I doubt it will go 4 days

You could be right... in an ermish kinda way... England 42-4 (YES 42-4) - that's right, I said 42-4 - after 12 overs, 1st innings, 1st test in series of one.

Make that 42-5 after 12.4.... You'll never bate the Oirish... Ole Ole Ole... low lie the fields of Athenry... what a pleasant afternoon for the MCC members! Some of them haven't yet recovered from pop anthems blaring over the loudspeakers for the World Cup final, bless 'em.

43-7 after 14.... this could be a record in test cricket, I really can't remember such an early collapse.

England bowled out for 85... before lunch! 5 wickets from 9 overs from Tim Murtagh, fantastic stuff.

Makes it competitive anyway. England will be thinking in terms of 300+ tomorrow, I guess. Doesn't seem to be much chance of a draw, weather forecast is good and it's hard to imagine either side batting for more than a day. The Ireland performance was a record... the lowest first innings total ever posted by England at home according to the wireless.

probably need nearer 400 only a 4 day test so draw the most likely result .

I think it's 4 longer than normal days, broadly 5 days overs scheduled into 4 days play or something like that. I can't remember watching a 4 day test before though so I've no idea why that's the way it is but, then, a one match series is a departure from the norm anyway.

Not knowing anything at all about Cricket, but why are England still 1/10 to win ?
Please excuse my ignorance.
