I had an octavia before, the clutch went 3 times in the space of a year. Although I do believe its the way a car is driven depends on the life span but I also believe its the way a car is built too. Perhaps I just got a bogey octavia but that turned me off german cars for life. Gimme a jap car any day over that german shite.

I can see the benefits of a nice car vs a shitbox having taxied both.

I went to Merlin auctions in the height of a recession and bought a €450 Corona (diesel auto) that was worked up to September 2013, bar two fan belts breaking it was a very reliable machine. There used to be a running joke if I was asked if I had a good week to which I’d reply “I got the price of my car”.

Had 3 sonatas, they were a nice motor. The 1st one was a 2006 2.4 petrol one, very comfy machine most pax thought it was a Lexus, it didn’t generate any more of less work because of it.

I think if your going after a target audience (hotel, vip, executive clients) it really doesn’t pay to have a top end motor when the starting fare on your meter is all the same as the wanked out shitboxes

There’s also a Irish way of thinking that a taxi should be a top end motor, I went to NYC last year and I couldn’t get over the quality of taxis over there, filthy dirt, lots of body damage, cracked windscreens.

I’m driving a wanked out French panel van now cost me €8319.79c that will be on the road now until December 2027, I’m getting 9.5 years service out of it at a yearly cost of a vehicle of €875 and some change.
That's the right attitude.

Slightly off topic, I haven't had a haircut now in 3 months, I'm wondering will I shave it off or style it long and just shave the neck hair.
