Change of motor and the roofie was wired through the boot and sits on the rear of the roof .last sign sat middle just before door posts .Inoticed that the handling of the car was effected at speed by the signon the rear of the roof .Does it act like a spoiler and force the rear of the car downon the road .I rewired it and moved it forward .Any body else experience any difference in handling by moving the roofie ,

I only like my roof sign in the middle of the roof.
I think its my OCD. it's the symmetry I like.
I rented a car for a while and there was'nt enough slack in the wire and it would only sit at the back of the roof.
pissed me off it did.

I changed my roofsign a few years back to the toblerone shape,it sits at the back of the roof(wired from the boot)..i deffo think it's more aerodynamici can feel the car getting pressed into the road when i hit 30kph...or maybe that's the fat fuk sitting in the back!!

Silver I can see the drag co efficency is effected but no figure for downward thrust .Can you give the figures a look over and see if you can formulate a figure for downwart thrust ..Thanks oops oops

Use the above formula without yer roof sign off ..... Then do it again with yur sign on....assuming ya done both tests at sea level say at the same temperature an tyre pressures Ie. rolling resistance is the same an ya use exactly same stretch o Road assurin Equal coefficient of friction .... ya Divide the first one inta the second an yull get the percentage of added drag of your roof sign....
The effect on handling wud be negligible unless your driving tru ballyfermot at 500 kmh to get out of the kip... An the drag on a Toblerone wud be much greater than a roundy sign due to turbulence caused by the negative angle of attack front an rear an the absence of any assimilation to the desired teardrop profile.....
If that doesn't work...

The Irish roof sign causes about 5% increase in fuel consumption. It's why the NTA recommended removing it on long distance runs..
I changed to a smaller rroof sign ( €130 from PSV.IE)
Because of the aerodynamic grooves on the PRIUS roof.
I'm not sure if I'm saving much more, but it's aesthetically more pleasing.
European roof signs are about the size of a letter box, which makes sense.
Now if only the Irish could make it compulsory for the sign to go off when the meter is engaged... 8)
