Fantastic darts from Ireland, captained by Steve Lennon, to finish runners up to Scotland - our best result to date. Both Steve and Willie (O'Connor) played out of their skins. Regular contributors will know that I've been a fan of Lennon since I first saw him throw on TV a few years back... the way he's progressing it won't be too long before we have an Irish world champion. In fact, I reckon once he beats van Gerwen once or twice on the big stage he'll be the next big hitter, bit like Anderson after beating Taylor in the Players Championship the first year he won the WC. Anywaysanall, it was O'Connor who put in the best performance of the tournament in beating Rob Cross (who did very little wrong) with a 115 average. In the same tie Lennon beat Michael Smith giving Ireland a memorable 2-0 victory over England to set up a semi-final clash with Hoilland in which they easily beat van Gerwen and Wattimena in the deciding doubles game. What a weekend!

Is that where ye were?

Better than the tripe served up by Yorkshire Mick and co last night anyway. Hendrick had time to get another sleeve tattoo between passes.........how this motley crew is the top of any fucking group is beyond me.
-
Good auld Robbie Brady , had a €5 on 2-0 @ 17/2. Ireland are not a goalscoring team, if it was Denmark or Switzerland they would have put 4 or 5 past the gibs

And then coming fourth rofl rofl

That's the plan. I'm going to the mainland next weekend for a funeral and I bought a holiday in Dubai & Abu Dhabi for next month to put myself under a bit of pressure.
197-2 now (after 28 overs), cruising to victory with Morgan at the crease.

It's comin' 'ome
It's comin' 'ome
Cricket's comin' 'ome
Ingerland Ingerland Ingerland....
-
Through to their first final since 1992... appropriately (or not?) with the winning stroke coming from our own Eoin Morgan's bat... he seems to get better with age, he actually broke the record for the most 6s in a one day game earlier in the tournament.

Simply awesome game of tennis.

One of the best games of one day cricket ever .
Mad to decide a World Cup on most boundaries but it was a tremendously exciting game.
I hear on the wireless that the relevant governing bodies have agreed to avoid major sporting events such as the Wimbledon final and Silverstone from clashing going forward.

Rumour has it that the cup could be coming to Fingal when it goes on parade.

Ireland play England in a test match this week be a bit like clubbing baby seals with lump hammers .
-
An Irishman won the golf up there in Britain...you never know with them Fenians.
-
I doubt it will go 4 days If we win the toss put England in to bat they declare on about 400 then force the follow on .We lose the toss they put us in to bat get us all out on the first day build a big score thenselves declare at lunch on day three then go after us for a second time .We are not a test Cricket Nationdont have the debth for it .In ten ot fiveteen years whrn Irish born Asians are in their 20s we will become a force in the game .
-
Have dropped a few of those "Asians".....mainly from Asia up to Rathmines a few times.
-
I do see them sitting in groups near the pitches beside the zoo on Sundays.Few taxi drivers amongst them.Always look like they're plotting an attack..probably lovely chaps.

On the opposite team I hope
-
They play in Corkagh Park I played with them once or twice .Indians and Pakastanis dont playon same team .Indians will invite you to play some very good kids with the bat .Ireland will win a Cricket world cup long before thwy win a soccer one or a Rugby one .
-
Never understood the rules of Cricket (probably don't want to) , so I find it most boring.
But yea with the influx of Asian's and Indian's , you never know, might change me tune before I meet me maker.
-
We don't tend to celebrate our sporting heroes...........we've all but forgotten about Poor McGregor.

I doubt it will go 4 days
You could be right... in an ermish kinda way... England 42-4 (YES 42-4) - that's right, I said 42-4 - after 12 overs, 1st innings, 1st test in series of one.
-
Make that 42-5 after 12.4.... You'll never bate the Oirish... Ole Ole Ole... low lie the fields of Athenry... what a pleasant afternoon for the MCC members! Some of them haven't yet recovered from pop anthems blaring over the loudspeakers for the World Cup final, bless 'em.
-
Am I still in bed dreaming or what? 42-6 after 13!
-
43-7 after 14.... this could be a record in test cricket, I really can't remember such an early collapse.
-
We've come back from worse...as per Eurovision early exits.
-
England bowled out for 85... before lunch! 5 wickets from 9 overs from Tim Murtagh, fantastic stuff.
-
When's Kew Gardens making an appearance?
-
Mini collapse now depending on Kevin O Brien
-
207 all out .
-
Makes it competitive anyway. England will be thinking in terms of 300+ tomorrow, I guess. Doesn't seem to be much chance of a draw, weather forecast is good and it's hard to imagine either side batting for more than a day. The Ireland performance was a record... the lowest first innings total ever posted by England at home according to the wireless.
-

probably need nearer 400 only a 4 day test so draw the most likely result .
-
I think it's 4 longer than normal days, broadly 5 days overs scheduled into 4 days play or something like that. I can't remember watching a 4 day test before though so I've no idea why that's the way it is but, then, a one match series is a departure from the norm anyway.
-
Not knowing anything at all about Cricket, but why are England still 1/10 to win ?
Please excuse my ignorance.

silly odds the draw is the value .

That didn't help ?

England are batting well if they can get a 350+ lead by lunch tomorrow they will set Ireland a target that they really cannot reach so if England can Bowl Ireland out in a day and a half they win .BUT if they cannot get such a big lead they will set the field to reduce 6s or 4s so the Draw then becomes a decent bet .1/10 is not a betting proposition .
-
Ooo... Keeeeee.... Any news on the Sliced Pan ?

Have a score @20/1 the draw on betfair you will get a chance to lay off or hold .GET ON .

So No Bet, if'n ye want to be putting up bets and tips on here, then be sure you can stick with them.
The 'Wimp out' thing doesent work fer me !
-
You shoulda laid that 1/10, Ken. They were never a 1/10 chance. Probably closer to Evens now. Draw probably c.100/1. The night watchman made the highest contribution so far, remarkably scoring more runs than the entire team in it's first innings.
-
Current odds:
England 5/6 Draw 200/1 Ireland 33/25

303-9 at what we can assume is the close of play - actually came off for light and the threat of rain but 18:30 is the deadline for any resumption of play. I'd suggest England will be happy enough to have broken through 300, probably marginal favourites going into day 3.

They will look for weather and light to drag it out .weather for tomorrow is for rain .

Ireland or England? England ought to fancy bowling Ireland out in 2/3 of a day, Ireland ought to think they can win within a day so either way I'd suggest more than a full day would have to be lost for a draw. However, I wouldn't be backing either team to win at the odds, the game is (maybe a little optimistically) very much in the balance so a draw could still be the best option for a throwaway fiver... at 200/1 it'd be the pick for an interest bet I guess.

200/1 your betting on the weather .If there is a torential downpour the outfield might become unplayable that will take half a day to sponge .
-
England bowled out with the first ball this morning.... Ireland now 6 without loss chasing 182. Game on!
-
Getting better for Mick and Assumpta....or Philip and Portia in the case of the average cricketer in Eire,,,,,however, hard to beat J.P.'s coup getting the Ride Her Cup to Adare in 7 yrs time?
-
Porterfield gone for 2... 11-1, might not need the prosecco after all!
-
Porterfield gone for 2... 11-1, might not need the prosecco after all!
1/2, 2/1, 100/1 on the exchange.
-
dont think ireland will get the runs Hope it rains today and tomorrow the draw comes into play .
-
The Draw is showing as Lay 95.00 on the exchange, so I had a Fiver at 201.00 with 888 sport.
Let me know how I'm getting on ?
-
Not good by the looks of the exchange, England now 1/14, Ireland 14/1, 160/1 the Draw.
WTF happened in the last 30 minutes ?
-
Jaysus ! 1.01, 130.0, 430.0, within 40 minutes, did the 'Black 'n Tans' turn up ?
-
Bowled for 38... aah well... another two records set lowest ever test score at Lords and quickest ever test innings at Lords.
Do they still get lunch?
-
The bet was the Rain .Start delayed by rain game stopped for rain and stillthey fucked up ..They shouldnt of tried to score any runs just defend their stumps .As I said earlier like watching baby seals being clubbed todeath with lump hammers .
-
They were hardly trying to knock it out of the park. That was them being defensive as they knew conditions would be more conducive to scoring runs after lunch, similar to day 1... there was just too much in it for the seamers and they were up against two world class seamers. It's only their third test so they don't have huge experience with the red ball, which is far more unpredictable than the white ball.
-
Root was very diplomatic in his assessment of Ireland's batting abilities.
-
Dosent help when you only have one bat between the whole team.It was a spectacular collapse but so to was the English first innings .
