was thinking of getting my taxi valeted for the vehicle test, have never done it before, I just Hoover it and give a quick clean with a cloth a few times a week. is it worth it or will I just regret it when someone pukes, drops curry chips, gets dog/cat hair all over the seats?

No

I do mine myself every 5,000 kilos or thereabouts, clean and hoover the inside and run it through a brush wash. I got it valeted once for the LRA but the damn lazy good for nothing immigrant easter cunts damaged my wiper blades - the blades on the MKII (and MKIII as it goes) Octys don't pull out when at their normal resting position (bottom) and the fuckers didn't bother running them up the windscreen to release them opting to clean said windscreen with them in place, thereby damaging the rubber with the edge of their cleaning blade. Never again!

I use turtle upholstery foam cleaner, spray on a section, leave for a few minutes then wipe of with sponge and warm water, dry's in an hour. Then give it a hoover. And i wash and rince the car with a bucket of rain water from the water storage butts leaves no streaks and a soft Viking car brush and auto gylm wash wax. The dash and stuff get done with auto glym vinyl and rubber care. The only person who cares for my taxi is me, because nobody else does, they just want the money. Saw a taxi a couple of years ago in a car wash, the guy working on the power wash took a strip of taxi branding of passenger door, the driver didn't know at the time, I was passing at the time, I would consider it punishment for his laziness.:-)
-
yeah I always wash the car myself because I got it done at petrol stations in the past and saw that they don't even clean the roof most times and saw one of them start at the bottom of the car and work up, the stupid ejit.
-
If you want it done properly do it yourself or bring it to a main dealer or authorised service centre.

A sponge, bucket of warm water and a chamois.....that's what i tell the missus to use when she's doin mine.....and then the car!!

Buy a vax machine in Argos and do it yourself.
Will be the best money you ever spent.

My observations were, having done it last week, they are only concerted that the cat is clean enough to use as as a PSV.that the decals are in order, your insurance is inthe order, and the windows operate properly
-
No, never got it valeted. Tempted though to see if it made much difference.

What were the original seat covers like? Did they look like new since they've been covered in the leather covers for a few years?
-
Yes they are so good,im seriously thinking of leaving the leather covers off altogether

No need to clean the car if one works 10 hours a week though.

I got my First Valet ever a few weeks ago. I was after working the weekend at a Cork rural music festival (making serious coin)) and the cab was just covered in mud both inside and out. I was too lazy to even attempt to clean it myself so I paid 'Aqua Valet' in Cork 100Euro to collect the car, clean it and drop it back. Fer the Hundred Euro they did a marvellous job even cleaning the old residue/glue off the roof sign, it was like a brand new car when I got it back, glove and pocket compartments all cleaned out, and I never had to leave my seat.
