This is on top of holidays, bank hols, public hols, days off to bet on the Galway Races, half days off to lodge your pay cheque etc...

Sick leave in the public service cost more than €380m last year.
However, the number of working days lost to sick leave has dropped from 9.5 to 9.2.
The Irish Prison Service saw the highest number of days lost, at just over 15, and was followed by the Ombudsman for Children's Office, at 14.3 days, and the Department of Social Protection on 12.7 days.
The Paid Sick Leave scheme provides for a maximum of 92 days on full pay in a rolling one year period, followed by a maximum of 91 days on half-pay.
This is subject to a maximum of 183 days paid sick leave in a rolling four year period.
If I was a civil servant, I don't think I'd get out of bed in the morning.

Here's my shrewd observation:
Most Civil servants arrive into work late, but make up for it by leaving early!! 8)

Because they wouldn't have anything to do all afternoon!! 8)
