I was doing a bit this morning and noticed the hours to get Priority have changed.Currently my app says you can only get it between 1600 and 1801 Friday and Saturday midnight to 3am.
When did it change?Is it a mistake?
I don't really care for it but still it's nice to be kept informed.

You have no indicator of whether you have priority or not even when you have done one of those urgent prebooked jobs flagged with "priority"
so I dont bother anymore taking those jobs or worrying if I have priority or not
I have a feeling that we've been conditioned to chase after something that no longer exists lol

If'n ya click on the little roundy stopwatch looking icon in the very bottom Right on your Free Now home screen, it will show your Priority status and also inform you of when Priority can be achieved in your county.

It said on mine 16.00-18.00.....but I got priority when I dropped my third fare at 18.52 and have it till 23.59 Monday.

It's an interesting question... conversely what happens to Catholics who arrive at the gates to discover that Joseph did shag Mary or to discover that the Prophet Mohammed had cracked it. As an agnostic I like to think that if there is a God we will be judged on how we lived our lives and how we treated our fellow man in doing so. I find it hard to believe that if there is a God s/he is so insecure as to require us to gather and worship him/her daily, weekly or three times daily depending on the code (if any) to which we subscribe.

It says 16:00 - 18:00 but works 17:00 - 19:00. Probably a time zone thing.

I'd imagine all the times displayed are out by an hour, definitely the case for the afternoon session. It does say Peak Time on the "You're Free" banner at the correct peak times... I think.
I guess it could be deliberate to get the FN Ambassadors out well ahead of the real "peak" times?

So the morning slots were just scrapped?No emails or message in the app.Seems like a mistake.Or maybe when they updated our app to fix the last bugs they just gave us a stable version from another city?

Today mine shows the same screen as yours Hal.Maybe it changes depending on what hours you work.

I also noticed that once you've achieved priority the peak time banner disappears....even if it's still peak time.

Just last night after the streets had dried up at 3.30am, One of the main ranks in Cork (The 'Chicken Run') had just Two cars on it, so I joined in as Number 3 car.
Five long minutes later nothing moving and nothing coming up on the 'Free Now' app. I sat and waited in Third place on the rank (As a Free Now Ambassador/Gold status with Priority all weekend). Then a job came in on the App fer 'Maymount 858 meters away', I went to take it within a second but it came up as; "Error another driver took it", which I thought was fair enough.
But then the cab in front of me (2nd place) on the rank pulled off and did a U-turn toward Maymount, the other cab was Not an Ambassador, in fact he had his car branded by some Tyre company, Coincidence ??

It may well be that they plot drivers in virtual zones/queues when it's quiet.If they can do it at Dublin airport they can do ot anywhere.

Only thing that annoyed me was not taking a family that put there hand out at departures..... Ain't they hailing so is that not legal to pick them up?
If not then sumone has an awful lot to answer for.. Absolute spastic bureaucractic bullshite

I think Smcarten got a fine... but I've taken jobs in front of the Daa staff and told them to piss off...nothing happened they took my roof sign loads of times.Never heard anything.Same goes for the airport police I was a bit nicer to him but got the passenger and no fine.If they hadn't of changed the criteria for airport permits I might give a shit.
I think they understand how bad of a system it is so give a bit of wiggle room.Take whatever you can.I guarantee yis the airport lads would rob yis in a heartbeat if they were on your patch.They don't give a bollix.

As far as I know it's a bit like when you're dropping at Heuston,if you're driving out and someone flags you then you are legally allowed pick them up.Parking up waiting for a job is where you are breaking the rules?

It's seldom that I work by day but if I do get to Knack a job at the Airport/Train station/Bus station after dropping off, then I will take it every time, I have never been questioned by any other driver about it but if I was then I would have one of my excuse's ready;
"It's a Booking".
"It's me Mother/Brother/Daughter, Etc"
"It's going ta de Fookin Travel Lodge, do ya want it ?".

I got Two in one day a few weeks back, the First was a fella coming out with his son's hurley which was seemingly an inch too big to be allowed, he paid me a Pony to drop the hurley back to his home which I did the next time I was in his area.
The Second was a Dutchman with limited English who approached me after dropping off and asking; "Arz youz available ?", he was on his phone, so I said; "Yea, Jump in dere Bey" and then I pulled out my phone to look at the blank screen to make it look like it was a booking !

My favourite one was a few years back when I was with a base, I was on a base job going to the train station and with another job hanging in Ballincollig coming back to town, as I drop off at the train station the cab dropping off in front of me drives off to join or be the only cab at the train station rank.
A fella comes out of the train station (before the other driver had reached the train station rank) asking to go to Ovens which is just 2km beyond Ballincollig where my next job is lined up fer;"Jump in Bey" sez I.
I see the other driver out of his cab and storming towards me as I drive off, I roll down the window and tell him; "He's only going as far as the Clarion !" which was a birra of a lie, Ovens is a 25 to 30Euro job and my next job from Ballincollig to home was another 25Euro.
Either way the other Taxi driver was Not ON THE RANK when I took the fare, even if he was I would of had some other excuse made up !

In the grand scheme of things, I would reckon that I have been Knacked or Wronged to a ratio of 5 to 1 against me in the last Ten years.

The airport taxi ranks are nowhere near the drop off zones.Especially if yer dragging suitcases with a few brats.Next time you get off a flight see how long your prepared to wait for a taxi.I fukking hate the airport as a passenger and a driver.The customers aren't being served well out there.I regularly see a queue out there on T2 and ten cars in the kesh.It's great that the lads are busy but I'm not leaving empty if there are customers looking for taxis.
Sending the passengers to an empty airport rank from departures is like asking them to walk from college green to Baggot Street to see if there's any taxis on the rank.
Plenty of lads from the Kesh hanging around the city center in front of official stands during the bad years.Hungry cunts.

That all seems strange MFH, in Cork the start of the Taxi rank is 10 meters from the Departures door.
Kerry airport which is really tiny is the same, the rank only holds about 5 Taxies.
Shannon have a Hackney only service again available at the departure door.

You can see the airport rank on Terminal 2 departures(probably 30 meters too) but the DAA spent a lot of money putting up expensive steel barriers to make sure the queing passengers can't easily cross the street to hop in a taxi dropping off.They're charging the airport lads for permits so understandably need to be seen to keep the work just for them.The net result is keshies heading to the airport empty and non keshies leaving empty.
Terminal one departures is slightly different.The taxi rank is on the floor below so they're separated enough to confuse the passengers.Sometimes you'll see 100/150 people waiting down there and loads of empty taxis leaving the airport.Seems very inefficient.

There is money involved in Dublin airport Taxi ranks which kinda Fooks up everything !
In Cork airport which is also under the jurisdiction of DAA taxi regulations, there is no money at stake and not policed by the DAA.
So everything moves smoothly, the drivers regulate themselves, the main rank runs along the terminal building with a holding bay (Pebble beach) located about 200 meters away.

The rules changed during the recession.I used to try to do the right thing but got a pain in me rocks getting fukked over.A significant portion of the fleet are immigrants who don't go to ranks and don't talk to other drivers.Back where they come from it's normal to take jobs wherever you feel like it.Now we all do it.
All them elephant jockies drive like fukking idiots because they know no different.You can't just put the toothpaste back in the tube..

Talking about cunts racing around like their in mondello, why is it that there is no speed vans out at night on the main arteries into the city anymore?
They seem to pack up and go before midnight before the streets becomes the wackey races.

Probably don't wanna pay the operators to work them at night.I'd say it was mainly taxi drivers getting points at night.The NTA need drivers and if they're getting bans they'll need even more.
