I see blackcircles.com are here now the uk online retailer. And they're in partnership with some Irish fitters.Anyone use them. The prices seem considerably cheaper compared to the Irish owned shops.

Generally speaking they are all about the same price, 50Euro is about standard fer a new tyre, unless you drive a Ford C-Max then it's 130Euro per tyre or a BMW which comes in at 210Euro per tyre.

It depends on the wheel size and profile. The brand of the car has little to do with it.My tyres aren't that common. They're 195/55/16.Usually I can't find them cheaper than 85 each and had to pay 105 last time as I hadn't time to shop around.

I never used antin but Bridgestone on me octavia.... Using continental on the prius and seem to be performing nicely but I am a very advanced professionally trained driver and drive within the speed limits at all times..... For most other criminal antisocoial personality disordered speeding taxi drivers they may not cut it

I always liked the bridgestones too but I'll admit I only ever reached their limits on a motorbike. You need to be rally driving to feel the difference in a car.ABS and TCS takes all the guesswork out of car tyres.

Go up to 205/55/16....more choice...and cheaper.

Herbie Tyres in the Beautiful seaside resort town of Balbriggan. His cousin Glen (in Glen Tyres, also in the beautiful seaside resort town of Balbriggan) also charges €65. BTW, Colin has the best wheel alignment rig in the country. Got my front wheels done a few years back and the slip read 0 on the subsequent NCTS report, the only time I've ever seen 0 on such a report.

^^^thanks Hal.Do you remember if they were noisier or less efficient?I was considering buying 15 inch wheels off adverts to make it a little quieter but I probably just need a new car..

That's why I didn't give the address initially, you specified southside... just giving you an idea of what we pay outside of the big city.

Obviously at this stage you wouldn't bother your bollox changing wheels as the car will soon be consigned to travellers yard for a birra clocking, there's a bit more rubber on the ground...as for noise,I don't remember if it was....with my current shape I have 215/45/17's....I pay €80 a corner for them from my local tyre supplier.

^^^^I still have over year left Hal.I noticed there was a set of 15 inchers for your yoke on adverts too.300notes.

Also had a passenger complaining that his prius model like yours with the drug dealer alloys was very noisy.Whatever I buy next I'll be putting tiny wheels on it.Our roads are far too shit for big wheels.

You're right....one thing I did notice with my current yoke...and it pisses me off no end is the turning circle...it's fukin horrendous, has to be related to the 17" wheels,my previous with 16" wheels had no such issues, neither does my missusss Focus also with 16" wheels.

No rat I don't remember pricing anything like that up north,I think I did get a service once though I don't think it's particularly cheap up there for things like that though

I didn't like the big wheels on the upper end prius for the following reasons .. Lower profile and wider, they  less comfortable, noiser, an increased rollin resistance use more fuel, more expensive tyres .... Unsuitable for a city taxi in me humbled opinion
