A fresh row over claims the State is a tax haven is set to erupt after new figures show American multinational giants made $83bn (€74bn) in profits here - a third of the total they enjoyed in the entire EU.
According to Professor Gabriel Zucman of University of California, Berkeley - a world expert on profit shifting - those booked here in 2017 were more than in Germany, France, Italy, China, Mexico and India combined,
The data came in the latest release from the US government's Bureau of Economic Analysis annual report into the activities of American multinationals issued yesterday. "Ireland remains the #1 tax haven," Prof Zucman wrote on his Twitter feed.
The Government denies the State is a tax haven and it is working with other countries to beef up global tax codes.
According to analysis from business group Ibec, receipts from company taxes have exceeded estimates by €14.3bn since 2015, plugging holes in the Budget.
IF WE ARE DECLARED A TAX HAVEN THE USA AND EU WILL DESTROY US FOR ROBBING THEIR COIN .

If they are declared a tax haven then the EU or the USA can put tarriffs or embargos on their goods .But the OECD will bring in rules to prevent it .The article says ..According to analysis from business group Ibec, receipts from company taxes have exceeded estimates by €14.3bn since 2015, plugging holes in the Budget.
EXCEEDED bu 14 billion if we lose that money we are bankrupt .You just have to drive down the docks or out around City West not an Irish company to be seen unless they are making sandwiches .The EU will punish us especially after brexit blaming any job losses on the IRISH backstop .We have been robbing other countries tax coin for years .Without the Brits who were fiddeling tax on services to hide behind Macron will fuck us like a two bit whore and we deserve it .

Its gas but wen I was a kid all the owlones on our road didn't work, an everyone got a corpo gaff for 2 an 6 a week an if ya got sick the doctor was free an ya got your appendix out free straight away cause your da,s taxes paid for it ...
An yu cud go to school an a small donation if yu could afford it but don't worry about it and the chemist was free as well cause your da,s taxes paid for it and the system worked and there was no national debt or bailing out banks wit the country's pension fund that were then bouught by Americans and sold again for huge profit ....
An the government regulated everything an paid for everything wit your da,s taxes everybody got paid ....
Now we 200 bn in debt an yu going to die on a trolley an yur kids will be renting off foreigners banks for the rest of ther lives an handing up all ther wages and ther be no state pensions and more an more people are going be living in tents in the park and the vultures be buying all our land and state assets sold by an Indian masquerading as an irish Patriots in the dail

Charlie let Dermot Desmond with his idea for the Financial service Center turn Ireland into a Ponzy Scheme .As I said I hope Brexit does not happen but its looking likely it will that will be the beginning of the end for our economy .We might even have a referendum to see if we want China or America to buy the Island .

Ocky I remember you could go to any ESB office and get electrical goods on the never never. You could get gas products as well of the gas company. Who put a stop to all that ??? None other then Johns beloved fukkin EU

EU never stopped them what happened was the ESB and Gas included your appliance purchase as part of the overall bill and were disconecting people for non or late payments ..There was a court case and the judge ruled that they were two seperate entities it would of cost the ESB and Gas a fortune to set up a hire purchase company for which they never had a licence .By getting rid of the showrooms they could save a fortune on rent and wages .Nothing to do with the EU just a business decision .The likes of GE Money had set up in Golden Lane and Mercantile credit in Fleet Street To much competition as only cash strapped bought direct from the ESB I got a telly and video recorder and one or two kettles .

ESB were out of the business as the judge said they abused their monopoly position .My Cousin managed one of their shops and was paid off .Governments cannot SUBSIDISE companies ESB and Gas were charging interest the sales were not subsidised .

Dollymount You might even remember when you had to rent the Phone as well as the line from the P+T that was done away with as well and you could purchase your own Phone as that was also considered abuse of Monopoly position .

When I was installing phones in houses you would not believe the amount of people who wanted me to put illegal extensions up stairs they didn't want to pay rental charges on their extensions I duly obliged for a small fee of course

Three weeks before the State fights to give apple back their 13 BILLION Apple does this .Technology giant Apple has put on hold contacts impacting more than 300 workers in Cork, according to former employees at the company.
The staff impacted had been hired to check Siri recordings for errors.
According to reports in the UK Guardian, the staff were let go after Apple said it was suspending the programme earlier this month.
Employees had been on paid leave since August 2, the day the company announced it had decided to suspend the programme.
The staff, known as “graders” had been employed through contacting firms. They were sent home on August 2, with many having been told there was no work available due to “technical errors,” according to the Guardian.
However, the paper reports that last week the contracting firms were told by Apple that the grading work would be terminated, resulting in the job losses.
Apple employs around 6,000 in Ireland, based primarily in Cork’s Hollyhill campus where it has invested more than €220m.
Independent.ie has contacted the company for comment.
