He was a mechanic apparently so maybe fixing the Peugout was his hobby...One less thanks to the 15 year rule.  DL number A1516.

Just checked the database and it was actually a 406.

How long licence renewal will they give if one's 10 year licence expires aged 69?

If you are under 60, you can apply for a 10-year licence or a 3-year licence (on medical grounds).
If you are 60 to 67 years old, you can apply for a licence that will expire the day before your 70th birthday
If you are between 67 and 70 years old, you can apply for a 3-year licence that will expire the day before your 70th birthday
If you are 70 or over, you need a certification of fitness to drive from your doctor to apply for a 3-year or a one-year licence

A bus or truck driving licence is issued for a maximum of 5 years.

Fer me (aged 54) that does not go far enough, most likely a family doctor will pass a life time patient if they are anyway close enough.
I would like to see mandatory Free Driving tests fer the over 65's.

I read all the crash reports on the news and fer me there is way too many of them involving OAP's.
