Is there a case to be made to the taxithingey to put a moritorium on the issuing of WAT licences due to Brexit and the reduction of tourists from the UK visiting Ireland and Job losses meaning less people taking taxies .?
Talk in Europe of a fund to help businesses effected by Brexit I wonder could we apply for help ,especially lads working the border areas .
-
Yeah and toughen up the test to the 80% pass mark again. They have the 10% target number of WATs so no need to give them away for nothing anymore..Also a 15 year rule for all saloons.Every single agency is warning about the consequences of a No deal situation but our costs wont be decreasing.Just means more hours behind the wheel.
-
This is a serious question Brexit could see a reduction of about 5% in your take home then add in extra tarriffs on imported spare parts or even Fuel Duty .If Farmers or Transporters were impacted by -5% of earnings they would be looking for some sort of help .

If only Big Phil Hogan were a taxi driver, eh, John?
-
There should be a modetoriun on more recruitment to the industry full stop. I cannot believe the NTA were recently recruiting another 1600 drivers . The industry is ALREADY grossly over supplied with taxis

It could become an issue if we see another big influx of drivers who lose theit Fork Lift driving job in the Penny Importers like Pound You Like or other low profit industries .We need to protect ourselves from a big influx especially of second drivers on a car .

Too late old bean.........the rules of the game you espouse are unknown to those who matter least in this life.....this country is destined for bigger things without the arsehole Irish in it.....read the Development Plan.
-
They should be extending the leccy car grants to regular hybrids too.Even though I could probably buy a new leccy car I think I might be too restricted by one so will opt for a secondhand hybrid.Free dog food for all taxi driving dog owners.Possibly a medical card for my dog too.

In case you hadn't noticed....they couldn't give a fuk....we're a money making racket for them to subsidise Dublin Bus and as we're self employed we get fukall in return.

Could some poster who can spell like Silver or Rodent or Doc drop a letter to his Heighness Lord Ross and ask him to prorogue the issue of Licences .

Big Dommos First X wifes sisters next door neighbour buys crap on the internet from the UK .Revenue say she will now have to pay import duty and Vat if the Brits go Rogue on Halloween .Will Paggo the Pocket decide that imported cars now need to be pay import duty as well as vat and VRT on British Imports as they no longer have any free trade with the EU .Jap imports should not be effected as they have trade deals with the EU but the Brits will not after Halloween .In short should drivers thinking of importing get it done and the VRT paid before Halloween just in case .
-
The currency fluctuations are a factor but yer right I think Uk car imports are gonna get more expensive.Apparently it's difficult to get a speedy appointment for a VRT assessment. They're very busy.
Was looking over on Boardzzz and they're saying 10% import duty plus 23% vat.Sounds pricey.

Could also be VAT as the UK are not a EU member state so VAT has not been paid in a Member State .

Revenue is aware that the UK Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency has withdrawn the Certificate of Permanent Export from circulation. This was an alternative to the standard V5 registration certificate for the purposes of re-registering a vehicle in the State. From now on the UK authorities will only be issuing V5 certificates to persons resident in the UK.
Customers are reminded that foreign registration documentation is required when presenting a used vehicle for registration in the State. Furthermore customers are reminded that the vehicle must be accompanied by this documentation. Vehicles presented without all the correct documentation will be refused registration.
It should be noted Revenue will continue to accept a Certificate of Permanent Export where it is presented.

Looks like its too late to buy a car in the North/UK so
-
I rang a fella In revenue he thinks the story will be .If you owned the car in the Uk for a certain time then you can bring it in and pay VRT only but if you go to the UK to buy then it will be considered as just a simple import and duty and taxes applicable to the value will be imposed will apply .He said he dosent know what the rate will be .
