If you have the time get the programme from the BBC this week .Interesting item on UBER and how they distribute work using a Logoritm .I often wondered if they dealt out work based on keeping everybody engaged so not giving the job to the nearest car allows them to feed the pack and keep everybody satisfied .Be interesting to see how many of the Ambassadors jobs are Pre Booked against public offering .Thing about UBER is they are transparent unlike Free Now so how is work actually distributed by the apps ?I never ever ever see a Prebook from Lucan or Clondalkin or Tallaght to the Airport .

Does it not go on your status john? As in if your gold, like van driver, you get first look in. Next is the silvers, like ken, then the bronze and then the likes of me with no status. Not sure if an ambassador gold would get to see the prebooks before a regular gold, though it wouldn't surprise me. What about an ambassador with a bronze rating, would he still see prebooks before a regular gold driver? I don't bother much with it myself, just if its really quite in town, I might scour the suburbs with the app on.

There's probably only barely over half that now. Relax, deep breath, all will be good. You may have to work a few more hours or chop and change a bit, but you'll survive. Less of the doom and gloom!

Ok, 47000 psv licences. A bit over half of that figure still equates to a lot lot less taxis on the road, particularly at weekends, creaming the work. If the apps are gonna control the work in the future, which does look likely, well you'll either have to play ball or think about doing something else, which as you pointed out, for a fat 58 year old theres not many opportunities. My plan is to keep going as is as long as I'm getting my wages. When I'm not I'll have to lick ass to the apps, like every other taxi driver will have to. Sign of the times John.

The last recession killed off the numbers taxis ...that's the problem not the lack of work...

Seriously horse and every other driver on here .Find the Podcast of this episode of Click.I told you all years ago but nobody listened .You wont believe the Data you gave them and you dont know what they will do with it .Lads sold out their jobs and industry for a Bobo .I predicted all this now my next prediction is you will be required to sign up to providing service at certain times to access Prebooked or HSE jobs and a lot of jobs will be fixed fare .Time to get a PAYE job and taxi freestyle .I never intended to drive a taxi for ever but like a lot of lads its addictive but I really cant see a full time single income wage out of it .Ten years before I retire cant see ten years income coming from this industry .Just my Opinion you make up your own mind s .

I've been gold with priority almost continuosly for 2 years.
I've never seen a juicy airport run either.The good citizens of Bray Dalkey Naas etc must get business flights every morning.
There must be a time delay on the prebookings so all I see is the big standard Churchtown to Baggot St kind of stuff,while the ambassadors fill their boots.

I worked my early morning shift last week, Monday to Friday, earliest I started was 2:30am, and the latest I was out was 10am. And that was only on one day. Typically done 5 or 6 hours.

I would prefer option 1 as it keeps me busy most of the time.
Option 2 would be great but fer me option 1 is more important.
My fees per week usually come in at about 60 Euro on FN, as I do a lot of street work by night in the 'Jungle hours'.
And I take a Lorra time off Mid-week !

If you cannot open this link .The programme will be reshown on BBC set your recorder its frightening all the data they hold .From the time you accept until you arrive they track you and your speed and direction then while you do the job they track you but they also track you even when your app is off .It was suggested they feed work indiscriminately not to nearest driver so they can keep more drivers engaged .If they give all the work to a few drivers then the rest will rebel .That is why I asked how many pre bookeds on average an ambassador has to do .If you are trying to reach a certain status then you will be obliged to cover all the crap to hit your targets .

True dat....but i also find the opposite aswell...as in if i work early in the week(Tues-Thurs) i seem to do well but the offers are shit come Fri and Sat...actually worked five days last week...as i said to the missus....it's not all it's cracked up to be!!

The interesting part of the show was that the app distributes the work randomly to keep most drivers happyish if you are a Bronz driver on average and only work Thurs/Sat but decide to work Mon through the week I wonder will they front load you to bronze then slow down your work feed as you have reached your normal requirement from them to keep you satisfied .I know Just eat use a log to make sure all workers get some work per shift .

I often grab a prebook priority job .Im not sure priority exists I never get offers in Clondalkin or Lucan or Tallaght there are probably plenty of drivers working that patch no need to feed me and take food out of their mouths .I get plenty of offers in Terenure ,Walkinstown .

I've often thought the same hal, if you're engaged for over an hour out of the two priority hours you should get prioritisation. Not that I ever really give a shit about priority but if I was chasing it I certainly wouldn't be doing cross city jobs during rush hour. You'd refuse longer journeys to do 3 short hops. I think fn have not thought out this particular element very well. If they gave priority for time engaged as well as job numbers the work would be covered quicker.

Ther many advantages to having the app and by the day its becoming more essential.....ide rather use an app....less cash on me , safer work generally, the customer is more behaved generally because it's all on record, communication , you can get a job anywhere...etcetera
.....and it will become essential if you are to survive ..especially when the downturn happens......
When that happens...the ambassadors will get

If you set the Range on F/N to 2KM's, the bastard still offers jobs up to, and beyond that distance. That clogs up the screen, so you have to reject the job, forcing you to take your eye off the road. On a busy night, it could prove downright dangerous.

We need to work to pay for food, clothes, cars, accommodation, beers, cigarettes. You can’t get any of them for free. Unless you do and then you’ll be guaranteed 3 square meals a day, clean clothes and a roof over your head

But still it is Horse shite talk, it would be great if we all didn't need money, but unfortunately we do and the only way to get it is to work fer it, unless you happen to be lucky enough to some how have fallen in to a large lump sum through inheritance or a Looto win.
Bills have to be paid and if ya don't work fer them, then they do not pay themselves !
I far from kill myself working either, just do enough to cover the bills. This week so far I took Sun/Mon/Tues and Wed off because it's the middle of November and all is quiet, Thursday evening 6 hours, Friday night 5 hours, Looking forward to earning the 50 FN Bobo on Sat fer 16 jobs between 4pm and 2am, I hope to have it wrapped up by 11pm so as to get a snooze before the Jungle hours kick in at 1am !

That is not fer me anymore, it was fer years when I did need the dosh and did work the long shifts, but I don't need the big money or the long shifts anymore, I have me decent VHI package and a small pension, so just enough to cover the bills keeps me going.
I did have a good rattle of it on Saturday evening, considering that I took Sunday to Wednesday off this week, I was due to do a birra graft this weekend. I had the 16 job FN Nifty Bobo wrapped up by 10.30pm and ended up doing 32 FN jobs on the shift. Nothing like a birra Bobo to get me in the mood to work !

I worked last nite ken ...half gaziolillion taxis in dublin and it looked packed of punters but the traffic jams are back and gone stupit again.....I'm doing more days and hanging more round me own area cause I'm getting more than town...
