Who calibrates and certified the taxi meter calibration tools they use to set your meter ?If its a UK based company certifying them now that they are outside of the EU are our meters legally calibrated in line with EU standards .I had a fella in the car tonight operates mobile cranes certified in the North he said he was told they wont be allowed on to Irish sites if they are not certified to an EU certification standard even though the UK one is exactly the same .

Got my meter resealed this morning Lad said they heard nothing about any increase and no extra staff have been recruited .

its the law .I forgot to do it when I changed car had a visit from enforcers fined 60 notes .Who exactly said there WOULD be a fare increase in FEB ?

All you had to do was book an appointment and yer covered, then cancel it within the time frame permitted and re schedule the booking for another date, thats what im doing till the merer installer has the program for the increase this year

You sure,they only do that ?I think they check the accuracy as well,but im not sure.who was the crowd that used to make you drive from one point to another and gage the time,and distance you drove ?

Legal Metrology are responsible, initially they done the test in Phoenix Park then they added a site in Ballymun. Then it was contracted out to SGS who done it in hotel car parks and NCTS centres. Now it's contracted out to Aplus+ who only do it at NCTS centres.

Fare is reviewed every two years. NTA approved our rise for this year last November so I guess folk assumed it would be implemented in February, the same as the last time. However, rumour suggests Free Now wanted the increase approved before it increased freight charged to drivers by 25% so that increase couldn't be taken into account during the fare review process. However, it didn't suit Free Now to follow the normal February implementation because it would overlap too closely with the driver increase i.e. they'd have to deal with drivers whinging about paying a few grand extra freight per year and listen to passengers whinge about increased fare, most likely incorrectly jumping to the conclusion that Free Now's increased take is responsible for the fare increase. Rumour suggests that TAC (allegedly fully controlled by Free Now) instructed NTA to defer implementation to the latter half of 2020 and, importantly, to defer commencement of the next fare review process to very late 2022 or early 2023, by which time the freight increase will have been forgotten.
