Im more guilty of it then most on here,but realistically we spent far to much time debating ALL dispatchers.they are not worth it,nor are they necessary in the taxi business.I would love to see eveey taxi driver throw the radio back at these scumbags who constantly over step the mark by acting as though they EMPLOY the drivers,when you all know its actually the other way around

Would be fantastic but in the real world, some drivers dont know how to work the streets and are like lost sheep, like robots following google maps blue lines .But the danger now is Freenow wants to have it all and not good at all as no competition.

I always felt seriously that a lot of drivers actually NEED to be told what to do.they were so long in the PAYE sector that they just cant cope with running their own business.they are even prepared to give the radio scumbags like Ebbs,Kelly,and Kearns control over them rather then have to face it

Good point there is a lot of driver's they just can't cope that they don't need an app to survive. Its call a comfort zone you afraid to leave in fear of unknown . If you are self employed Taxi man all what you need is marketing yourself. Personally i am proudly not a part of Lower Mount Snake Pit and u love it . Streets are yours

Correct maxi,but the ones with radios are much worse.they are only short of clocking in and out ,and requesting holiday leave.some ,im sure call Kearns mr

Im no lover of ANY dispatchet,but I would have a little bit more time for F/N simply because they dont try to treat drivers like they were employees .imagine the cheek of the other radio pricks telling drivers what to wear (uniforms) how much to charge (offering discounts at the drivers expense ) and the one that REALLY kills me DISCIPLINING drivers (for giving back work ) who do these bastards think they are ? their only function is to provide work to drivers,which is what they are hired by drivers to do.NOTHING ELSE.anyrhing more then that is an invasion of privacy into a drivers business.it is about time drivers stood up to them ,and told them that

I think your living in the past dm. Wearing uniforms.. Gone.. (unless you want to wear it)..discounts been offered. I can't remember the last time I heard a cab company offer a discounted fare. Sure every job you get from fn is heavily discounted to the driver.. On handing back work... Most cab companies are using the iCabbi system. Accept /decline.. I think your choosing to live in the past dm.

Are you telling me these companies did not insist on the wearing of uniforms ( which the driver had to pay for ) ? Are you telling me that they did not offer massive discounts to the public (particularly the HSE
)at the drivers expense ? are you telling me they did not discipline drivers for giving back work ? Oh and I nearly forgot are you telling me lucrative work did not go out the back door to the base controllers cronies ? The fact is ,even if all the things you said were gone, it is a fact that these people did actually do it at one time,and by doing so,they not only treated drivers like employees,but they invaded the drivers right to run his own business when all they were hired to do was provide work.so no billy,I dont think im living in the past

You obviously never worked for Hail0/my taxi/Free Now, DM. They are the toughest disciplinarians in the business. You may recall men on Roy's reporting seeing grown men in tears as they were sacked in the public office up above in Dublin. Ken recently reported witnessing another man being sacked in the public office down below in Cork. IIRC, our own MfH was disciplined with a suspension for some minor bending of the rules. As for discounts, Hail0/my taxi made drivers give discounts of up to 33%, the highest in the trade and it was the last firm in the entire Free State to allow drivers charge full fare, long after the economy recovered.
I dunno what sort of bubble you live in... I reckon you're hell bent on promoting Free Now because it is open to drivers of all nationalities and invests heavily in training drivers all over the third world... Admirable an all as that may be, more drivers gives them more power.

As for billy,I think he is the one wearing blinkers .he is not prepared to acknowledge all I have stated to be true,not to mention the bullying that went on.I can draw your attention to one particular cab company whos drivers STILL illegally stand for hire in the car parks of certain Dublin hotels,and who have actually THREATENED other drivers who would dare to pick up at those locatons

I see the mistake you are making. That's pretty much they way Irish dispatch firms work i.e. they dispatch work to locally licensed Irish taxi drivers.
Free Now, on the other hand, accumulates work and employs drivers to cover the work at the lowest rate it can pay them. Hence it invests heavily in it's third world recruitment programmes and uses any type of vehicle regulation permits. Currently that includes employing hackneymen and men with clapped out shiteboxes masquerading as limousines to cover it's work. Similarly, it employs men with SPSV driving licences issued anywhere in the country to cover it's work in the big cities.

I have worked for several Irish dispatch firms over the years and I currently work for Free Now. I can tell you, first hand, that Free Now was the only firm that made me give discounts and it was the only firm that continued to make it's drivers give discounts long after the economic recovery took hold. Free Now is also the toughest disciplinarian in the trade. If you don't like rules and/or refuse to do what you're told you will be sacked, make no mistake about that.
As a part-timer I now pay Free Now as much as I paid Irish firms to work as many hours as I wanted so I don't get how you reconcile your alleged opposition to part-timers with your love for the firm that collects huge freight from full-time professionals that need the job to feed their families anall to subsidise the part-time scum.
Similarly, you once whinged about drivers coming up from the bog to rob your work up above in Dublin at the weekends yet you now promote the only dispatch firm that actively encourages it's drivers to do just that!
Then you pretend to be opposed to multiculturisation yet promote the dispatch firm that employs more immigrants than all the others combined, the same firm that invests heavily in recruiting drivers from all over the world to take your work... Next you'll be complaining that there's too many taxis while supporting this recruitment!
You make no sense, DM. Have you considered a career as a drivers' representative?

In your last post you have used a series of words which define my problem with radio companies.the words were employed by them sacked ,suspended,disciplined,rules,etc etc are you another one of the people who is disillousioned into thinking tour an employee ?

I was visiting Big Dommos grave this morning a really moving experience I brought his Jack Russell with me and he lifted his leg and pissed on the headstone .I was just saying to Dommo that the Judas principle applied where fellas sold out for chump change .Lads that Dut Protest to much about an app then giving it the Blowhard that they got the BoBo ........No Dignity Dommo No dignity you would think they would just pocket the bronze and keep their yap shut .

With a traditional dispatch firm or radio group it's pretty much the drivers who employ the firm to find work for them. However, that tradition is being eroded. If you work for Free Now, as I do, you are employed by them to cover their work on their terms. They dictate what work you get, how much work you get and how much you get paid. Men have been disciplined up to and including being suspended and sacked. This is the model you promote... albeit from the sidelines.
