Bohemians have announced a partnership with Amnesty International ahead of this season's League of Ireland campaign.
The Dublin club's away jersey for 2020 has the words "Refugees Welcome" around the silhouette of a family fleeing war to campaign for an end to the Direct Provision system.

I think he might support an end to direct provision... sure he can tell us himself anyway... if he wants to.
-
I can see it now if Bohs win anything an open top bus procession through Blanch being led by a fleet of Prius Taxi Cabs .With Bob Marley tunes blaring out .Wonderfull sight Ill enjoy it but not sure if Dollymount will .Although he might of had a change of heart he was talking of embracing the apps as well .Like St Paul had a conversion on the Road to Damascus did Dollymount have a conversion on Eccles Street .Dont be surprised if he stops ballad singing and starts humminh Negro Spirituals .Near death experiences can enlighten and change a man ,women on the other hand just speed up their revenge .

Clever marketing, capturing the mood of the nation, I guess.

I was well aware of it,but I was hoping you lot would not find out.I will be honest with you all.yes it is true to say I was/ am opposed to Ireland becoming place for refugees.I always opposed this .not for any hathred I bear towards these people, but I am extremely nationalistic and the loss of both my national identity, and the sovereignty of our country weights very heavy in my heart.however I now have a deep appreciation of the tremendous work carried out in our hospitals, care facilities, etc etc particularly by Phillipino nurses, and doctors

Its not so much modren Ireland John, but based upon my own recent experience of 7 weeks in hospital not knowing if I would survive the ordeal,I was comforted at every moment mostly by foreign staff who were very generous with their time.I was very much afraid I dont mind telling you,and they were at hand all the time.they are remarkable people, but as I said I am not in favour of the policy of open borders, because I feel ive lost my national identity, and the sovereignty of our country
-
I think what the Boys are saying is...they need more players!

Hardly think so ,we have a squad of 29

Have a go at Daniel Lambert our esteemed sec

I actually proposed Luke Kelly on the jerseys most pf the players supported me,but the powers that be didnt want to know

just live your own life and dont be worried about refugees coming here, there is nothing you can do about it in fairness. thats is the way i live, no protesting, no worrying about people coming here from other countries, who gives a $hit? by the time the country is filled with nationalities from all around the world we will all be long dead and forgotten.
-
Did you get one of the Bob Marley shirts, DM? Might be worth buying one of these ones just in case they're found to be against IFA rules and get withdrawn.
-
I doubt if they would be outlawed.youll find that because of the Bob Marley thing, they wont make the same mistake again
-
To be fair, it would be a different mistake, albeit with the same outcome. I guess it depends how IFA define political statements.
-
Rat our league is under the jurisdiction of the FAI not the IFA that the norn iron organisation
-
Sorry, I meant FAI... I'm not a soccer man but I guess they've been in the news enough of late for me to get it right.

I finally thought of someone they should put on the shirts.....

Im not sure Big Dommo is dead .Sharon Hannagan from the flats swears she seen him doing PR for a club in Golder Beach .Dommos wife who he left in 1978 for Bridie Gogan from Rialto said he isint really dead he just fucked off after his mother died and left him the gaff and her stamp collection .I dont know if thats true or not its been rumoured he is still alive but I dont know I havent spoken to him in two weeks .But Im sure he wouldnt be seen dead in one of them jerseys .

Dommos Ma died and left him the Gaff and her Stamp collection .Dommos Family all wanted a piece of his Pie so he got Betty Flynns mates brothers friend to sell the stamps and put the Gaff up for sale ,to prevent his wife who he dumped in 1978 but never divorced because she was getting the deserted wives money from the Postoffice getting her greedy hands on his inheritance. He Done a Lucky Lucan and disappeared presumed Dead .As Dommo is my best mate I did nothing to correct this assumption as Im not sure if he is dead or alive as I havent seen him for nearly two years and havent talked to him in two weeks .Dommos situation now as far as im concerned is a bit like Schrodinger Cat he is both dead and alive depending on how you look at it .

Was the gaff sold, and if so, how, without the wife signing the Family Home Protection document, which is required if the husband wants to sell any residential dwelling. The wife must sign to state that it is not the family home.

FFS Dommo sold the Gaff on the QT his old mother was clever she sold second hand clothes in the Ivy Market for years .She bought the Family home after her Husband Paddy died but before she died she put it in to Dommos Name so his name was on the Deeds so his wife had nothing to sign It was not her Family home it wasent even Dommos as he was living with yer one in the Flats .The problem of Greed arose one night at the Bingo when Betty Corrigan said she heard Dommo got left a fortune and a gaff by his Mammy that was when his deserted Wife found out .Sheila Nolan hearing about Dommos Good luck rang his x Wife who now lives in Gorey with some Nigerian Fella .Dommo was in the bookies in Inchicore when Tommy Two Scars told him that his missus rang him to say Dommos wife was up the Flats looking for him and asking questions .So Dommo stayed in my Gaff while Billy the Bastard collected his togs and passport from his birds gaff then I dropped him down to Knock airport he didnt want to fly from Dublin cos his wifes sisters fellas youngfella works out there and might see him and he was on his toes away from all the strife with all his coin intact .

I think Bohs are at home for that so they won't be wearing the "Refugees Welcome" shirts. I'm not sure what the message is there - are they saying they welcome refugees everywhere else but not in their own stadium?
-
Tickets were sold out within 5 mins of going on sale
-
That's impressive. Is it normal for LOI games to sell out? I did go to one in Dundalk a while back and the stadium was far from full.
-
No its not normal, but there is great rivalry between these two teams.although having said that, there was a HUGE increase in our season ticket, and full membership sales for this coming season.attendences are up at all LOI grounds which is great to see
-
Fair play. The "refugees welcome" shirts will probably help with attendance and find a market beyond current soccer fans... taps into the mood of the nation right now with SF promoting open borders and all that. Yisser will be singing "Buíonn dár slua, thar toinn do ráinig chugainn" with greater purpose than ever before.
-
Indeed

I stopped bringing my kids to Dublin club matches...Filthy tongues are allowed to chant in some places

-
I understand the match will be played, but plans to show it on tv on will not now happen because of high winds and how this would effect the tv cameras this is the larest info I have

Fukin mad... the men can play but RTE can't cope with a bit of wind.

St Flannan's college (secondary school) traveled down from Ennis to Cork this morning to play CBS Cork in the schools Hurling Harty cup final after getting an early morning promise that the pitch had been inspected and the match would go ahead.
My own small fella and all his school mates were traveling to the match in Mallow 40km outside of Cork to support their school as a few of their mates were on the team.
At about noon the weather warning changed from Yellow to Orange and with both sides togged out and supporters on the way the match was postponed.
-
Chatting about the above to a customer in the cab last night he told me that he brought his own young lad to rugby training this morning and I questioned him; "Was it On with an Orange weather warning ?".
He replied; "Oh yea, it was On and it was very wet and very windy and the coach made a point of standing in the middle of the field and shouting at them, THIS IS THE GAME, THIS WILL MAKE A MAN OF YOU, MOST LIKELY THE BEST MAN AT YOUR WEDDING IS ON THE FIELD BESIDE YOU TODAY !".
I said to him; "Wow ! What age group were they ?".
He replied; "Under-8" !!

The Garda public order unit was called to a brawl in Phibsoboro this afternoon.
The incident followed the first Dublin Derby of the new SSE Airtricity League season between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers.
A man in his 40s sustained head injuries has been taken to the Mater Hospital.
The extent of his injuries are not know at this time.
Gardaí have obtained CCTV footage and are following a definite line of enquiry but they say no arrests have been made yet.
Local Social Democrat TD for the area, Gary Gannon witnessed the incident and says there needs to be consequences.
"I was driving past the Phibsboro fire station and what we witnessed can only be described by a hoard of young men - probably about 60 or 70 of them - just fighting in the middle of the street.
"They weren't wearing football shirts but it's quite clear it was over the Bohs and Rovers game. They are using that to validate their thuggery.
"I think we are going to have to have a conversation with Bohs, the League and the guards about what happens because there has to be consequences."
-
Wait till Bohs meet Shelbourne I piss meself laughing when I hear Niall Quinn talking about an all Ireland league can you imagine the cost of Policing Rovers Scum fighting with Linfield Scum .Who needs that LOI football is fucking desperate crap anyway NI league is even worst .What message are Bohs sending out to refugees when they want to beat the shit out of people from the other side of the river never mind the other side of the world .

Cork Examiner... I doubt he wrote to them, probably talking to a reporter in the pub or on the phone or both.

Back in the day Big Dommos Youngfellas would fight the Mulligan Boys outside the dance but Dommo would always appologise to the Parish Priest who ran the dance for the conduct of the Dommos .Did Bohs say anything about the conduct of their Thugs .

Read it online that "sectarian chanting" at Bohs and Rovers game...Think it was the Mirror yesterday from a Twitter feed. Couldn't believe that 2 sets of Fenians would be abusing each other over religion............forgot Rovers keeper was an ex-Linfield man and might sup a Bushmills every 12th. This is what happens when young men can't vent their true feelings...........happened in Germany before a charismatic lunatic promised them greatness.
-
It's nothing new for a section of young Bowes..Shels..Pats...and Hoops fans to chant foul mouthed quips they hear in grounds in the U.K...Remember hearing Hoops scumbags ..mouthing filth in the R.D.S. ..over 30 years ago.Its part of their culture now...Ignored by Officials and enforcement paid Gardai...at the grounds..

Ah sure its only a bit of banter, let them at it, they know no better

Silly cunts the lot of them.......obese hard-chaws with no prospects. Maybe the good-looking Eastern European lads can teach them how to really do football violence. The Ministry for Silly Walks brigade them Bohs and Rovers fans.
