Keep this philosophy in mind the next time you either hear or are about to repeat a rumour.
In the flats John M was widely lauded for his wisdom.
One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance who ran up to him excitedly and said, "Jonny do you know what I just heard about one of your mates?"
"Wait a moment," John M replied. "Before you tell me I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test."
"Triple filter?"
"That's right," Johnny continued. "Before you talk to me about anybody let's take a moment to filter what you're going to say. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"
"No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it."
"All right," said Jonny . "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about someone something good?"
"No, on the contrary ..."
"So," John M continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, even though you're not certain it's true?" The man shrugged, a little embarrassed. Johnny continued, "You may still pass the test though, because there is a third filter - the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about going to be useful to me?"
"No, not really ..."
"Well," concluded John M , "if what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even Useful, why tell it to me at all?"
The man was defeated and ashamed.
This is the reason The Rodent was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem. he insisted on Links never considered if the shit was true just that some hack had typed it out on his Remington Typewriter and there was a link .

Newspapers get annoyed when people steal from them. Sometimes they sue (I'll provide a link later). They might sue RC & this site. If they were especially upset, they could go after his house. (That's why I was strict as a moderator on the old site & why I wouldn't do it on this site.)
Hence the need for links (which is kinda saying 'thanks for the info' and it's a bit of free advertising from the newspapers).

You're also protecting yourself. Say you thought John Doe was a bollix and you posted here that he was. He could sue you. Instead, if you quoted The Indo saying he was a bollix, he would have to sue The Indo and not you.
Long story short, it's a win-win for everyone. You're protected, RC and the website is protected, the newspaper gets a 'thank you' and a bit of free advertising.
I can't find the link I wanted about newspapers suing. Basically, a Irish website 'newspaper' was lifting content from the main papers and reposting it on the own website as their own. I guess you could say they were stealing it. The main newspapers sued and won.

Stock futures plunged Sunday night even after the Federal Reserve embarked on a massive monetary stimulus campaign to curb slower economic growth amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Stock market futures hit “limit down” levels of 5% lower, a move made by the CME futures exchange to reduce panic in markets. No prices can trade below that threshold, only at higher prices than that down 5% limit.
Dow Jones Industrial average futures were off by more than 1,000 points, triggering the limit down level. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures were also at their downside limits.
While the central bank’s actions may help ease the functioning of markets, many investors said they would ultimately want to see coronavirus cases peaking and falling in the U.S. before it was safe to take on risk and buy equities again.
“The Fed blasted its monetary bazooka for sure,” said Peter Boockvar, chief investment officer at Bleakley Advisory Group. “This better work because I don’t know what they have left and no amount of money raining from the sky will cure this virus. Only time and medicine will.”

How do you know the state will guarentee it .Ask the European Citizens about how safe their coin was in their ECB backed banks .A bird in the hand and all that get your cash out of the bank
