Title: Taoiseach on the telly
Post by: john m on March 17, 2020, 08:39:58 pm
Tonight at 9 I’ll speak to you on @RTE and @VirginMedia_One. This is a Patrick’s Day like no other. We cannot stop the virus but we can push it back. We will always put your life and your health first. In future let them say: when things were at their worst, we were at our best

I was disappointed with the speech, calm before the storm = trying to scare us as usual, brexit, terrorists, etc

Then the bit about how its going to be a lot of money to pay back, yeah obviously we know that, we arent thick, why mention that? just mention the part that we are going to have to borrow the money and leave it at that.

Jesus the dour face on him, we are going to be ok, like why couldnt he be a bit more positive, hes supposed to be the Taoiseach.

But we need those companies Dalyer and i'm not talking about some bint getting a delivery from Littlewoods,no need for drivers to have contact with customers unlike taxi drivers who could have the virus and in turn spread it with little or no contact tracing for passengers other than app work.

The likes of those fukkers dont give a bollox about the drivers welfare, all they want is their ton plus a week.if they had any morality about them at all they would stop trading till this thing is over.they are taking full advantage of hard up drivers who just cant afford to stop

We need to keep supply chains open for important supplies,we can't shut down necessary services and keep as many people as possible employed, what we don't need is thousands of taxi drivers driving around spreading the fukin virus....but we should have taken action weeks ago...not letting 3000 Italians travel over would have been a start and cancel all flights and ferries before Cheltenham started...we couldn't rely on the brits to cancel it....none of those things happened so i'll stop bleating on about it.

I was thinking the same but if we had stopped all flights into Ireland, all ferries etc, the virus would still get in, illegal immigrants would get in some way and it would spread that way, especially if we were seen as being this great place where the virus wasnt present.

Of course it would have got here but the chinese to their credit took some draconian measures that slowed it's movement and gave mainland europe and us in particular a better chance but i honestly believe we didn't avail of that opportunity.

yeah some strange decisions made like the pubs and clubs should have been closed last Friday, also how are we supposed to carry out social distancing?

Hal your rite in wat you said .....I'm actually very afraid ....I've bein looking at the figures in ireland compared to the rest of the world ....and obviously the figures are distorted for many reasons....the first reason is china ....I dont believe they are
Giving the real figures anymore ....
I mentioned Philippines and hong kong the other day when our country went above them in figures ....ireland is in the early stages .....it has  has surpassed the figures in hong kong and the Philippines in a few days ...remember the Philippines has 109 million people and ireland is shooting up the table and surpassed the tested positive figures of 10 other country's....

Why is that ?

Dublin airport ( probably the busiest in Europe after Heathrow)

The rugby and the Italians ( absolutely criminal neglect by veradka a supposed well informed doctor

Ireland and immigrants....not blaming the immigrant but it's the place to work ..10s of thousands travel in and out of Dublin airport every week to italy ,france all over Europe to see ther folks or watever...nobody is flocking to Poland or fuking Romania for work ...

Paddy's day .....10 of thousands flocked here for paddy's day from all over the world ...for alot of them they came here a week or even 2 weeks ago and made it an extended holiday

Our business success ..its  Europe's tech centre wit business men/women  flying in and out every hour

Temple bar and our pub culture ....an example of a flu powder keg unique to ireland ....
Go over to the continent and go into a pub in germany in most towns in the winter  ....ther will be a one armed bandit
A dart board and the town drunk ....

The incubation period...anywhere from 3 days to 14 before symptoms they say ....
And the first tested positive case was 2 weeks ago..tested because he was in italy

Now you put that all together wit the worse health service in Europe ( yes repeating meself like a bitch )

And I believe that ireland is in real deep shit  trouble ....

The majority of the taxi fleet are saloons and therefore social distancing is absolutely impossible plus as we now know the virus can surive on surfaces for a few days, bus and rail unions have said their members won't be taking cash but no such representation on behalf of taxi drivers.....the NTA are a useless shower of fuks anyway...we're just a revenue stream to subsidise loss making Dublin Bus.

The Brits say 20000 deaths is a good outcome form this.

If we have roughly a tenth of their population we're gonna have at least 2000 deaths.

My guess is the Irish were deliberately allowing loads to get infected in the early stages just like the brits did to build up some immunity but we didn't say it publicly. This not checking at airports is all calculated. Even the travel advisory warnings were dribbled out.

At first it was north Italy then a few days later it was all of Italy and part of Spain. Then everywhere eventually.Bit by bit, very slow.

The truth is a shit load of old folks are going to get this on their death cert. They're just breaking the news softly so they don't look like they don't care. In reality, they can't stop it, just throttle it so it doesn't overwhelm the HSE.

Don't think it's up to the dispatchers to send the driver home.  But what I do know, and you'll be happy to hear dm is that Cab companies have started to let base staff go because there getting no freight in. Not to many cab companies out would last long without freight off drivers for longer than a month.

Ill be going to work if I get sick ill go to bed get better or Die .I would prefer to be dead than buried alive .I would bet money if I had any at least 10% of deaths will be recorded as flu but will really be suicide .If this lasts 10 years in Ireland it probably wont reach the 400.000 Syrians who died in the last 10 years a little bit of perspective ,more people will die from Malaria but they are not White so nobody gives a Donald .

Yes nobody cares ..3000 kids die every day from malaria....
We can blame geldof and trocaire for that for saving ther parents 30 yers ago and who an charities for supplying medicine and means to populate these unstustainable uninhabitable wastelands where human beings should never have gone

I think a woman in Japan has gotten it twice but that could have been under special circumstances.

My understanding is after contracting it you get an immunity that lasts a few months. Then your body forgets about the virus and you can get it again.Sounds over my pay grade.

Merc, if it's the same Brit medic I heard, you'll also note he said that they experience 8000 deaths from Flu annually. Something tells me he slipped that in to get people to wake up and use their heads. He'll be found in his car with a pipe in from the back.....he might have just snapped people out of hysteria.

I just saw the medical correspondent on Sky News standing in front of a load of facts and figures and graphs.20000 dead was an eye opener.

There's another microbiologist bloke on Sky on the studio everyday and he seems fairly relaxed and thinks we can't do very much about.

They'll probably get rid of him for scaring the public.Wont be long before Sky news are putting the death toll on the weather map the way this is going.
