Title: social distancing
Post by: john m on March 30, 2020, 09:37:33 pm
Its so hard to follow government directions Try Social distancing in a semi detached three bedroomed  house with front and back garden and garage   close to loads of shops .Or try hand washing when you only have 5 taps and only two of them have hot water and all you get for all this hardship is 350 euro .

wouldnt think so the first payment was 203 so thats what you get if you applied before the increase was announced .

I got fuck all so I rang this morning and was told to resubmit my application and it will not be backdated. Since yesterday you will be paid from the week after your application is processed, if it is approved.

It seems Varadkar done us up like kippers, told us we'd no need to work as we'd get dole backdated anall... then told them to fuck the forms in the bin.

I am with BOI, Watty but when I rang she said there was nothing on the system and asked me to check my myWelfare account as they "eventually" send a notification to that if your claim isn't approved. I checked the account and there were no new notifications. Anywaysanall I'm €553 down so far, could be €903 as she said there is still a significant backlog in assessing applications, online and post. I'd give them a ring if I were you. Took less than 30 mins to get through, just leave the phone on speaker beside you... sure you've fuck all else to do anyway!

Thanks.  I'm borderline 'cause I posted mine on Thurs, 19th so they *should* have got it Fri, 20th.  I think that was the cut-off for payment this week.  I don't have an account with mywelfare.ie nor a Gov.ie ID

I'll ring them this afternoon.  I'm busy now - waiting for the postman  :P

I posted min on 19th too, Watty. Could be in the same pile - filed in the green bin. I think you can register a "basic" myGovID account online which gives you access to myWelfare. I only have the basic account myself, you don't need the verified one for COVID 19 stuff anymore.

Turns out I do have a basic MyGov ID.  A year or so ago, I wanted to find out how many 'stamps' I had for the State pension (or not).  You used to be able to ring a number pre-internet days but now you need a MyGov ID.  I got started on it but decided not to go through with it.

Anyways, got into the mywelfare site and no notifications either.

Postman still hasn't arrived either.  It's gonna be one of those days  ::fight

When i made the application online, when it went to the bank details i gave me the option to lodge to my bank account...which they had the last four digits of my account.....which is the account Revenue use to withdraw my yearly tax...i never inputted any of that info when registering for the mygov account.

For anyone who posted on 19th Mar via post, saw this over on boards.ie (https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2058064458&page=36)

Quote from: d-gal;113008228
I rang this morning. Still nothing in my account. Applied on the 19th via post. The guy said I wasn’t on the system yet and it’s pandemonium. He said there’s boxes everywhere. Recommended I apply online and he said you won’t be back paid. Jobseekers can be back paid but Covid pandemic payment cannot? All very confusing. He was very sound but was stressed out of his mind which is understandable

Rialto sent in a form they sent back an E mail as it only had enough spaces for 14 digits so he left out the last 4 numbers .They sent him an E mail requesting he re submit the proper form,or apply on line .

Here's a thought.....the boxes from the 17/18/19 are underneath the ones from the 20/21/22 and so on.Case closed lads.... some fukker in charge of stacking the boxes wasn't bothered about when they arrived..they probably brought him in on his day off.

Everyone will get paid eventually. However i did post this earlier, even if you lodged a paper application, you should also do an online one, this was
straight from the horse's mouth - the dept. Also everyone getting the pandemic payment should apply for the jobseekers benefit straight away,
you may decide not to come back in the game until a vaccine is out especially if you have underlying health issues. You can always withdraw the application at anytime.
Title: Re: social distancing
Post by: Rat Catcher on March 31, 2020, 01:20:26 pm
We will get paid eventually but it's not being backdated so we're out of pocket to the tune of 3 and a half ton for every week it takes.

Dole offices are closed to the public and you can't apply for Jobseekers Benefit or Jobseekers Allowance online unless you have a PSC. They made me make an appointment for an interview to get a PSC and then they cancelled the appointment so I have no way of applying for anything other than the pandemic payment.

I think that has changed as well rat. head to mywelfare.ie, sign in using your basic my gov account. try again to apply for jobseekers benefit. i clicked
on the apply button and it seems possible to do it online(didn't apply was just checking).

Which one should we apply for.....Benefit or Allowance?
Title: Re: social distancing

We've already discussed the relative merits of each at length:

http://intaxi.org/forum/index.php?topic=11648.0 (http://intaxi.org/forum/index.php?topic=11648.0)

In short it depends on whether you're going to stop work completely or if you'd like the option to continue working without restriction and how much you earned after capital allowances in 2018 and how you might fare in a means test.

The weekly personal rate for Jobseekers benefit is only 203. plus increases for a qualified adult of 134, and qualified child of 40 per week.

It's reduced if your average weekly income for 2018 was under €300 odd. In that case you may do better on Jobseekers Allowance subject to means testing. Also, you cannot work as self-employed on JB, you can on JA without restriction.

Youngfella round the corner was right ....Construction work has been halted at the National Children's Hospital due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Contractor BAM said today's decision follows confirmation from its client, the National Pediatric Hospital Development Board, that the work is not considered essential during the current crisis.

It said separate Covid-19-related worked on the main St. James' Hospital campus will continue along with some essential motorway maintenance it carries out around the country.

Life is simpler for those living in a bedsit and subject to a barring order, no gardens, etc to maintain and little or no human interaction.

The barring order has been upstyled to Cocooning now! 8)
