They should look at the Irish trade. Full service available to all other essential workers and exceptionally few casualties. In fact, so few that those opposed to essential services has taken too sensationalising completely irrelevant cases.

How many deaths are acceptable?

How many have there been?
-
I get the impression that the only method of contracting the virus is through driving or traveling in a taxi ... so all of them?
-

All (ex) taxi drivers?

All (ex) taxi drivers?
AFAIK, You have to have a third level education for it to be mentioned in an obituary.
Conor Cruise O'Brien's daughter Kate is buried beside my Parents. Journalist and Writer apparently.

Death isn’t preventable. It happens us all, someday. Some before others and some because of illness. Cest la vie

Don't be so pedantic Vik.....of course we're all gonna die but in the current circumstances a lot of deaths can be prevented and in particular healthcare workers,of course it's mainly pension pullers that are taking the hit.

What are you doing now to prevent the spread of the virus when you do return to work, the virus won't have gone away, are you merely delaying the spread or have you a plan?

Delaying the spread...that's what the health experts want us to do and giving us 350 p/w to do it,we will have peaks and troughs until a vaccine is produced,i have no doubt we'll all get it once we're back in the real world but hopefully not in the numbers that will overwhelm the health service....at the moment i'm presuming there isn't enough work that would justify me driving up to the smoke from Drog....inanyways,i'm following the guidelines,if drivers feel that they're essential let them at it...i can't get the perspex at the mo that FN demonstrated constructing that will stop you getting the virus.
-
Its mostly over 70 unless u have underlining illness
A nurse in talaght hospital age 45 a man died last week
So there are exceptions
-
There will always be exceptions but unfortunately for some they'll be dead before they know it.

Being delivered today, they rang and said I could collect it if I wanted to save the delivery charge.

Another little project to keep me occupied while the government pay me to do DIY, the virus will be around long after we return to work and passengers will probably start demanding such features
I notice my local paint shop is doing deliveries as well

How much are F/N paying yis to install the shield ?

Very good..what size sheet did you purchase?
I wouldn't mind a divider between myself and passengers anyway...but would like to check that such a screen is acceptable to both NTA and insurance and that it would meet safety criteria...if there is such a thing?

I believe free now uploaded a useful video of one of their staff fitting a sneeze guard to a vehicle, Lynk are advertising having sneeze guards on their vehicles but I'd say that's Ebbs fitting them to his rental fleet, if you want one in your own heap it's pay for yourself I'd imagine

I'm laughing at this thread but if yis are messing with the interior make sure you're not obstructing the airbags. Some of the pictures I've seen show a connection between the front side air bags and the rear side ones on the ceiling.
At worst they might not deploy properly or they could just set off a fault code.Find out where the sensors are.
Ebbs one looks like it's flexible plastic like the cover on a buggy. The Freenow one is just dangerous IMO.
Good time to buy a van.

A delivery van?
-
Maybe...couriers are essential services too at the moment. But maybe if we have to change a multi-seater might be a good bet.Even the Prius plus can squeeze 5 in the back with the front passenger area closed off.

The FREE NOW and LYMP plastic shields don't have transaction draws similar to London cabs.
Do you have to exit the vehicle to take cash and give change?

I have my own plan fer a safety screen fer when I do go back to work, I haven't worked since the lock down was announced but cabin fever is setting in and unlikely that I will make it 'off work' till 5th May.
Over the last few weeks I have been collecting all transparent plastics even the top films off my ready meal dinners which are totally transparent and storing them, the idea is to take the measurements of my cab and make a plastic screen between front and back by cellotaping all this plastic together, and then duct taping it as a shield to the sides and ceiling of the cab between the front and back seats and to cut out a open and closeable hatch in the middle fer taking cash payments.
The front passenger door of the cab would be locked and all passengers would be guided to use the back seats only.
All seats, surfaces and doors would be sprayed and wiped down often on each shift with Dettol surface cleaner.
-
Wipe down a rear passenger seat a bit more though!!

Jesus Ken, there be a smell of Roast Beef, Chicken, Turkey&Ham and burgers in your car then :)) Oh and dont forget the veg

Wipe down a rear passenger seat a bit more though!!
I usually give the lower leatherette seats a good wipe down every week using Dettoll surface cleaner and plastic gloves nicked from the petrol stations, but things are different now and if I go back to work then it will need to be done quite often per shift.

Health care workers have surprised a taxi driver with a standing ovation and an envelope of money to thank him for routinely ferrying coronavirus patients to receive medical treatment without charging them.
The altruistic driver was lured to a health centre in Madrid under the impression that he was picking up a patient.
He was greeted with rapturous applause from dozens of medics lined up just inside the entrance to the Ramon y Cajal health centre in Alcorcon.
