Doing Sums .Country cant afford to pony up Dole and Keep your workers employed money for more than 3 months .Recon they will wait till the sums of how many are dieing how many are getting the thing divided by how much it cost dosent make any sense anymore .Recon construction jobs will be back in 6 weeks with social distancing officers on site .Then shops reopened with social door men on site .restaurants will reopen with tables per square meter restrictions and family groups only served .Hotels will reopen without bars but probably room service for porter .Government need to get tax dollars in so the decision will be economic not medical .Schools wont reopen till september and the leaving cert will be split teacher grades for ridicilous subjects and exams for stem subjects only ,allow the smart kids get graded .
Wouldnt be surprised if government announced huge social housing and roads projects .Big increases in excise duty on smokes, gargle, fuel ,increase in property tax .social charge .As the Rodent said they cant stop it just control the spread .In 3 months they will know the dearh rate per thousand if its acceptable then they will lift the embargo and then its everybody dance now and see what happens they can always invent a second wave narative if needed .

There are signs around Europe of countries slowly reopening their economies. all of them are in a far worse situation currently to Ireland, depending on the success or otherwise of these initiatives it seems logical we will follow their lead

Dont think there is any chance of an extension to the 12 weeks you will need to apply for dole .Two choices Benifit or assistance one is means tested you might have to surrender your licence to get it or go for the means tested assistance .

I worked the App the first week of the free money and jobs disappeared off the pre-book screen as quickly as they appeared, you needed to be pretty quick to get one, "having the App on" doesn't quite reflect the possible work available, I accepted every job that appeared then cancelled if it didn't suit, reading it live didn't work

I wouldnt know anything about the dishwasher its in her cooking room or somewhere .I dont watch the news I read one site News Now it gives both sides of every issue so you read both and make up your own mind .In one of my past existences I use to research for a stock broking firm .When I use the Phrase A man I know who hires Casual labour that is reference to a research body that correlates all known data to plot a future strategy for investors or brokers .eg.The contract for the Marathon has not been signed what does that mean .It means that hotel rooms usually booked by runners will not be full so investing in hotel stocks is not a great idea .If the contract was signed to provide barriers then you take a punt on buying hotel shares at todays reduced price and when its announced the Marathon is going to happen hotel share price goes up you sell the shares take the profit .Thats how active brokers make their coin .

Ireland now has the capacity to perform up to 100,000 Covid-19 tests per week due to new equipment sourced in China.
New testing kits and reagent sourced from China should allow Ireland to significantly ramp up its testing capacity but it could take a fortnight to coordinate the efforts across the country.
Dr Paul O’Brien, a regulatory expert on China, told RTÉ’s Today with Seán O’Rourke, that a coordinated effort with the IDA yielded a significant number of test kits. It has now been flown to Ireland by Aer Lingus.
The National Virus Reference Library has completed extensive due diligence on the equipment which is “up to spec” he said. It is of ‘gold standard’ quality.
The additional testing capacity will give Ireland a better chance at replicating South Korea’s model of testing and tracing, he explained.
Dr O’Brien, whose connections in China were crucial to sourcing the equipment, added that the narrative about PPE quality “has been skewed” and said that previous issues were more to do with regulatory questions than quality.
On the same programme, infectious diseases consultant, Prof Paddy Mallon warned that it would take two weeks to get coordination “up to scratch.”
“What we have in place now is the PCR machines and the reagent supply to do literally hundreds of thousands of extractions,” he said.
"Containment of this infection is key to us getting out of the lockdown safely, if we have testing operating at a high volume, and the reproduction number less than one, then we're in a position to test our way out of this.
“It's up now to the HSE to coordinate so someone who wakes up on a Monday morning with symptoms can get access to a swab, to process that swab, and to feed back the result within 24 hours. This needs to happen between now and the start of May,” said Prof Mallon.
The equipment is now being distributed around the country so that testing can be ramped up, said Prof Mallon.
Prof Mallon said Ireland encountered the same problems as many other countries in Europe: reagent and extraction kits were running low and many countries were competing for same supplies.
"It is one large piece of the jigsaw,” he added.
Respiratory consultant at the Bon Secours hospital in Cork, Dr Oisin O’Connell said this was “fantastic for Ireland as a whole.”
