Big Dommos cousins ,brothers next door neighbour was down the credit union today and was talking to Debbie O Tools mother and she was saying her Husband was cocooning because he was over 70 and wasent able to open his shop .Now that made me think If you are over 70 are you allowed to operate your taxi or are you legally required to Coccoon .

If you drive a taxi you can do what you want John....

You are supposed to cocoon. However, regulation on the part of both NTA and Free Now is quite lax. It beggars belief that neither of those advised all drivers over 59 years of age to refrain from working. In fact, their licences should have been temporarily suspended.
-
The bro was on earlier,NTA rang him and asked is he suspending his licence....like the conversation i had a few weeks back....anyways after a bit of back and forth she said that there was about 2000 licences that had been suspended so far.......can Mr Watty find out through the data base if that figure is accurate...or complete bollox?
-
Probably... to some extent in theory anyway. My plate is showing as lapsed and it's suspended until the end of May.
-
Yours is showing as lapsed too... with a renewal date of 23/02/21. Theoretically I could get a number from lapsed plates with expiry dates in the future but we only scan plates once per month - except MPO plates - so probably haven't picked a lot of them up yet. The end of next month might be a better bet from that perspective.
-
Had a look, there's not many showing so far, I guess the vast majority were scanned before being updated on the TfI app. If I remember I'll look again at the end of May... or you can if you want:

Another interesting stat that we can ascertain with greater certainty is fleet occupancy. There's plenty of breakdowns/reports available on the Trade Stats page. For example, Intercity's current occupancy rate is 68% having had 89% occupancy at the end of February and 72% at the end of March - based on Active plate licences.
