Title: Self-Employed PUP

What to do if you are self-employed (COVID-19)

Published: 3 April 2020
From: Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection
If you pay yourself as a PAYE worker through your payroll then you can apply for the Temporary COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Scheme from the Revenue Commissioners.

If you don’t pay yourself as a PAYE worker then you should claim the emergency COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment at MyWelfare.ie.

You may, if your trading income has collapsed to the extent that you are available to take up other full-time employment if it was offered to you, receive a payment of €350 per week for so long as you are available to take up other work. This is equal to the standard jobseeker rate for a two adult household.

Ken... Has your trading income collapsed to the extent that you are available to take up other full-time employment if it was offered to you?

They've changed the end time definition on https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/covid19_pandemic_unemployment_payment.html (https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/covid19_pandemic_unemployment_payment.html)
for the 3rd time it now says
"The COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment will be in place until at least 8 June 2020."

It's pretty dynamic alright but June 8 is the date the Minister stressed on the wireless today. She went on to explain that those who are still not allowed to work could get more on the normal Jobseekers schemes using the example that a couple would get €450... nobody asked her to explain the math behind her computing that €450 is more than €700...

Anywaysanall, that seems to be for PAYE plebs. The self-employed scheme says the €350 will be paid "for so long as you are available to take up other work". Get in!

Are they going to start offering us take it or fuck off jobs in Supervalue?

i construed that as I have every right to claim the three fiddy and still go out and have a rattle amongst the ruins of the taxi industry caused by the government imposed lockdown. no?

And still there hasn't been the avalanche of get well soon or RIP notices on the various taxi social media outlets. you must be bitterly disapointed

The lads working are doing something right. I have been critical of NTA/Free Now for not giving clearer direction - in particular not advising drivers to wear masks and not advising those defined as "at risk" by HSE to refrain from working - but, on balance, the trade is doing well. Undoubtedly the safest form of public transport available.

Is that a fukkin joke with Ebbs, ? Be your own boss , that's a fukkin laugh for a start, flexible shifts since when do the likes of these cunts determine what hours you work ? And this one I couldn't believe , I thought it was a wind up unlimited holidays , is he fukkin joking ? Do these cunts REALLY decide what holidays you work ? Jeez it's much worse then I thought. Why do drivers put up with this crap  ? Why don't you tell all these cunts to fukk off. My blood is boiling to think self employed men allow themselves to be dictated to in this way

Technically, the drivers are self-employed so flexibility is inherent. Surprised he didn't mention 3 and a half ton a week from Govt to cover expenses?

The drivers are and my bollox self employed. They bow the knee at every opportunity , and are quite prepared to be told what to do. Your buddy Kearns even came on here one day and told everyone in sundry how much a taxi driver earns

Technically, self-employed. While we work for dispatchers we aren't subject to PAYE and we have flexible shifts.

I think it was Roy's Vinny disclosed a grand a week takings. To be fair, most full-timers were taking more at that time... so it was a conservative figure. In fact I recall you telling drivers who work for Free Now that you take more than them, like Vinny disclosing the figures. For the record, Free Now has told us it's top drivers trouser €130,000/year.

Some of your contributions:

2and a half meself seen as how were discussing figures

From 9last night till 3-30

I dunno, but that is pretty much my usual take for thursday .I only work thrurday/ Friday / and saturday nights

Well I done 2 and a half,in that time ,but I dont see a memory connection ?  I would usually be very slow to say what ny average take  would be,simply because its nobodys business, and im very sorryI mentioned.  especially on here

When you consider the outlay that we have,I wouldnt have thought thats great. Any less then that ,and I would get out of the game .that is not great money, its ok,but it is not great

SSseriously coola,I dont find it difficult to get that amount any givin thursday.it could be to do with the. fact that I very seldom rank ,mostly just drive around.any time  I do ranknot, its always  batchelors walk ,PWC, opposite the boat,or the new rank at the halpenny bridge

No. Taxi trade is down by about 30% which means I have to do more hours, and it is 95% FN App work because the streets and ranks are dead.
