Regardless of my own, however cowardly, involvement in our trade I'd like to sincerely thank all those drivers who continue to serve our clients. My father was transferred from Beaumont to the CRC today, a journey that on the insistence of BH had to be taken by taxi. Without you guys it wouldn't have been possible. Well done and keep up the good work.
You are a credit to our trade.

Where was his taxi driving son?
-
Dad's on the mend so? Good news.
-
They wouldn't allow a lift even from a licensed taxi driver using a private car... not even with the offer of bringing the accompanying staff back. Red tape....

Seems to be... in a lot better form now and whatever brought him in (vomiting & chest pains) got fed up waiting for a diagnosis and fixed itself - wasn't gallstones in the end and remains undiagnosed with bloods and whatever was bothering them returning to normal... his walking has further deteriorated but he's been laid up and hasn't had a pint for a couple of weeks now - it's kinda a family joke that his shuffle seems to turn to a sprint after a couple of pints. Anywaysanall they brought forward a previously scheduled brain scan which also came back clear so we're hoping the CRC rehab will help.

We all wish John a speedy recovery.

Great news of your Dad--they are lifelong asset !
As for the transport --Hospital handled the movement as he was their liability, that ended when he was handed over on arrival !
-
Heroes one and all, risking life and soul to carry passengers to their destinations, every one an essential journey

I would think Rodent was out the back on a sun lounger enjoying canopies and coffee with his pin up model missus struggling with outrage that he was corralled in his seaside multi story .He never said they were offering discounts just expressed his gratitude .A nice gesture .

I suspect it's in case he or the staff catch something. Both he and the accompanying staff had to pass COVID '19 tests within a few hours of departing for CRC. In any event I guess BH are responsible for their staff so are probably obliged to provide a "professional" driver. When I worked for Blue Cabs we used to get the return jobs to drop nutcases to the asylum in Portrane... great job at any time of the day... I'm not sure about their responsibility to patients (I guess they're satisfying any duty of care by providing the transport) but I did have one escape in Donabate and the accompanying nurse wasn't bothered... sure they're not "under arrest or anything like that" says she... put in the full fare anyway...
