Phased reopening for NCT centres but driving tests remain on hold (https://www.rte.ie/news/2020/0606/1145862-resumption-nct-covid/)
The Driver Testing Service is not reopening yet. Mr Ross said this was due to challenges posed by maintaining social distancing in an enclosed space between the tester and the learner driver for periods in excess of 15 minutes.
Maybe worth bookmarking in case SW get contrary about our €350? What's good for the goose is good for the gander?

When I got invited to ask the question at a political forum last week why its ok for taxi drivers to work, but not for driving testers,he erm gave me the 3rd degree.the fact of the matter is ,the social distancing is the issue, and not if we are essential service workers or not.I withdrew the question, but I regret it now

What annoys me is the lack of advice from the Govt/NTA for taxi drivers. There's 10,000 of us in Dublin. 10,000 vectors to spread the virus without any traceability!
Phase 2 (plan B) is starting Monday.
Most people can go to work but maybe work from home.
You can use public transport but maybe don't. Wear a mask on the bus but what about taxis?
Shops are re-opening but maybe wait until after 10.30am because there's only 20% capacity on public transport. Are taxis 'essential' in getting shoppers into Pennys?
You can travel within your county or maybe 20km over the county border. But taxis can work nationwide if someone phones/uses an app.
What if someone uses FN/Lynk to go from Dublin to Galway? Legal or not?
Many smaller shops are gonna keep logs of people who enter their shop for traceability. Should taxis do the same?

I have told you a million times dont ask a question if you dont already know the answer .WE are entitled to the payment as long as the social distancing remains in place .Idiots asking why they we cannnot go back to work will fuck it up .Why would you want us to be an Essential service we are not .

Watty did you read the Taxithinget news letter they advise we keep a record of our passengers .You can be sure somebody will ask why and then we will be told to only do app work for treacability .Why do you think Free Now are pushing Credit Card payments its for treacability as I say Dont ask questions you dont already know the answer to .

IDID NOT want us to be declared an essential service, but by their actions, the government have effectively said driving testers lives are more important then taxi drivers.TAXI DRIVERS LIVES MATTER .........well at least WHITE taxi drivers lives anyway

How fucking stupit are you .Any taxi driver who Chooses not to go to work can get 350 we are some of the best treated self employed workers in the Country as long as Social Distancing is in place we can get whatever payments are going .Think about it even 1 meter and we can claim .
-
Correct,we can get the payments.but what happened was they value driving testers lives to an extent that they wont let t h em work, but they say to taxi drivers you can work if you want to so they have no respect for us,but they value their driving testers lives more

As only 6% of fares are from the street now, 94% of fares are traceable via FN or despatch Cos.

For fuck sake They EMPLOY the driving testers they have a corporate responsibility twords their employees .We are self employed and as such we make our own business decisions .Remember the 2 meters is only an ADVISORY has no legal standing .We are being offered free cash if we want it .When business picks up we can go back to work any time we like
-
But the whole reason driving testers are not allowed to work is because of the perceived danger right ? Now regardless of them being state employees,to treat another group of workers differently (us) suggest they dont respect our safety whatsoever

Jesus Dalyer you sometimes dont see what your looking at .You can be sure their union say its unsafe .Now the unelected Minister for motoring will say .They are right .How the fuck are we allowing men rish their lives going out with learner drivers like that we must change over to using test simulators and replace them men with machines .
Problem we cannot get men to do driving tests ?Solution use machines .

As one of the 6% of street fares, your chances of dying from Covid 19 are equivalent to that of dying in an aeroplane crash, if you work the numbers.

No comfort to those who have died in aeroplane crashes.

Barney McKenna was fretting on a plane about crashing. Ronnie Drew said "calm down - when your times up your times up"
Barney replied, "But what if the Pilot's time is up?". 8)
