• The very high level of calls and queries being made by SPSV operators currently are causing waiting times in excess of 30 minutes. Please email your query to taxis@nationaltransport.ie if at all possible. The response time is likely to be faster by email.
• We are advised that NCTS is also experiencing high call volumes and would ask all SPSV operators to ensure they use the priority SPSV NCT Booking Line – 01 413 5960 for appointments.
• Please only attempt to book an NCT or Suitability test at this time if you need to do so to return to work. Remember, late renewal fees are temporarily waived by NTA for direct COVID-19 causes at the current time.
• Due to a technical issue the Information Line (0761 064000) is experiencing intermittent issues receiving calls from the Three network. This is being investigated as a priority. If you are a Three customer and are having trouble accessing the Information Line you are advised to submit your query to taxis@nationaltransport.ie. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Phones are terrible Paddy Powers struggled to do nearly a million calls on Grand national day so you can see how a few hundred calls would block up the system .Doreen Coyle from the flats use to run a Dial a Tramp phone service She could talk dirty to about six different fellas while watching Coronation street or checking her Lotto or telly bingo numbers .They should get her in to give a training course .

Arse covering daily they wer ...but they shud ot taut about it a bit longer ...and changed the rule book like every other gov department
-
Not everyone sent them back I would suggest

The lad in the Suitability had a problem with my renewal .I returned the Daisies as requested .But nobody informed the inspectors so he had to ring HQ to verify I had returned the dasies as the LAW states he cannot issue daisies unless the old ones are returned to him at renewal .I said it was a Joke the Legislation says if you do not have taxi insurance it is an offence to display any taxi signage Roofie and Daisies are covered in the Legislation but Door stickers came after the legislation was written or as the Rodent commented some cars have a Dads taxi sticker in a Civilian motor is that taxi signage .

The NTA themselves,
Under Section 17 of the Taxi Regulation Acts 2013 and 2016, whenever a SPSV licence is suspended you must do the following immediately;
1:Remove the roof sign from your vehicle (Taxi/Wheelchair Accessible Taxi).
2:Remove NTA tamper proof discs from front and rear windows of your vehicle.
3:Within 21 days, return NTA tamper-proof discs AND the SPSV Licence Certificate to -
I received a mail on May 20th saying they received my daisies,i did notice in their mail yesterday that 2 and 3 from above have been removed, they didn't realise the future problems that would arise......insurance companies..as far as i'm aware.... weren't asking for certs and window discs to be returned and new ones issued when cover was reduced.
-
Not only were insurance companies not asking for them to be removed, they told someone I know in no uncertain terms the would NOT be informing the NTA as to who reduced cover
-

I agree it was a stupid idea to ask drivers to do this. I reluctantly did it and then 5 days after sending them,I got a mail to say all drivers must return the discs and taxi driver licence. I phoned them up and the lovely lady said said "it doesnt matter about sending in the licence. I asked her was she sure and the next thing is she goes off and puts me on hold "to check".
She then comes back and tells me "if you feel more comfortable to send in the licence then you can,but its not necessary"!
Methinks they are making it up as they go along.
The summarised version is: They havnt a clue.

Braille stickers covering 40% of the rear window,.. enough said. Like Phil Hogan, that got Ger Deering promoted. Spending de peepels tax euros well.

The BBC have now resorted to absolute bolloxoligy.they have now removed the episode of the Germans from fawlty towers.what is the world coming to at all.even the most left leaning liberals of you have to admit this is fukin ridiculous.if things keep going the way they are, you'll be afraid to bid your neighbour good morning in case thats racist in some way.seriously now,I think its gone beyond a joke.older people myself included find it difficult to cope in todays world not knowing what you can,and cannot say

It was fairly obvious that the NTA were replying to queries stating the letter of the law regarding stickers, in reality there is no need to return them, nobody is checking
-
It's fairly obvious that the NTA fuked up with regard to the letter of the law, those licence holders(myself included) will have to book an appointment to get new daisies fitted at no charge and also dealing with renewals which are clearly backlogged.....they obviously feel that those who suspended their licences can't be trusted not to work.

The NTA have really shown there incompetence during this Covid 19 pandemic.
They offered Taxi drivers with a suitability date prior to 13/6/20 a 3 month extension on their licence.
But my vehicle licence expires on 17/6/20. Both the NTA and NTC centers re opened on 8/6/20.
My NCT expired on 17/4/20 but was given a 4 month extension to 18/8/20 which the NTA would not accept because I actually passed the NCT a few weeks early and the actual passing of my NCT test was more than 90 days old.
And I was told by the NTA (after numerous calls and call-backs from supervisors) to book and pass your NCT, wait 48 hours fer it to show on our system, then book and pass a suitability test ALL WITHIN A 9 (7 working day) WINDOW or else your licence will expire.
To 'Beggar Belief' One NTA supervisor told me; "It's not our fault that you can't get an NCT !".
-
Stating the obvious, I guess. I thought your NCT had to be within 60 days of suitability and within 90 days of licence expiry or have they relaxed the rules?

I thought it was 90 days, maybe your right and it is 60, either way I had a 4 month NCT extension that the NTA would not accept.
They imposed near impossible regulations fer me to comply with within a 9 (7 day working) window with no Leeway excepted.
-
The regulations are the regulations.... comply or don't comply, it's your choice.

I know, I did comply.
I just thought that fer the NTA to offer a working Taxi man (through no fault of his own) a 7 day working window to complete both tests or be put off the road was a tad on the harsh side.

Are you sure the NTA are back in their offices? I'm awaiting a call to pay for my driver licence renewal as they were not able to accept payments from home, carriage office has my application and are awaiting payment confirmation to process it
-

Indeed, however logic would suggest returning stickers and replacing them is a task neither the drivers or the NTA wants.
Under normal circumstances any driver reducing their cover would ring alarm bells, not so for the time being, it's something they will clamp down on after we're all back and things return to normal again.
Wouldn't be the first time a "blind eye" was turned due to circumstances.

Yes, they are back since last Monday.

Yes, they are back since last Monday.
So much for them ringing me, I guess I'll have to set aside an hour or 2 listening to Greensleeves
-
Do they not use a call center to process the calls? Anytime I've rang them it seems like they're reading off a script.
Remember most of the country is still working from home.
They could only be running a skeleton service. Also if it is a call center many of their staff may not have bothered coming back to work if they have vulnerable family to protect.Go to work possibly on minimum wage or stay at home for the covid 350.Not a difficult decision.
-
I thought a lot of their call centre stuff was sub-contracted to some crowd in Cork. It's a big company that a lot of the big utility companies use. It made the news a few years back when one of their staff was copying card details given over the phone and using those details to buy stuff for himself?

Any clarification? Is it 90days that you can do your NCT or 60 ??
I thought myself it was 90 !
-
it's 90.
auld rat is actin the cunt there.
-
This could be wrong but I thought the NCT had to be done within 90 days of suitability test but suitability test had to be done withing 60 days of plate expiry.
The idea was to stop lads passing out too early.
If yis aren't worried about a little virus that killed a 43-year-old in Cork back in February why are yis so bothered about driving semi-illegal for a few days?Just drive yer heap.Nobody will notice.
Is it because yis won't get any app jobs?

Usual waiting time is about 30 to 40 minutes.

So i phoned the NCT to book the car in. The lovely lady was clueless as well.
She kept putting me on hold for some unknown reason!
I eventually got a date for 29July, my taxi licence is up 18 August! Pushing it fine to say the least.
To be able to get the NCT done and dusted and then book to get a date before 18 Aug with the SGS?!

How is that pushing it 18 days after you pass your NCT to get suitability A piece of Piss .Just make sure you pass the NCT thats your real issue .
-
It looks like not being able to get the taxi passed put could be the main reason we're not going back to work as soon as we thought.

My concern is that there might be a backlog to get a booking with the SGS

Wouldnt worry on that score .The problem might be getting a retest on the NCT if you need a ramp .

When I applied for my driver licence they were working from home and couldn't accept payments, said they'd ring me when they were back in the office

Why can’t Nta extend the validity of licenses by 3 months? Like nct. The nct lady told me your nct is valid for extra 3-4 months.

has there been an extension given to the 90 day NCT rule for license renewal?

I'll tell ya why....cos they're cunts!!
@Doc.....maybe read some of the threads ye kerp taggin on "it's all a loada bollox"
As some drivers on here have just experienced what the NTA really are.....NTA want a valid NCT cert(normal rules apply,no exceptions) before they'll give an appointment for suitability.
