Taxi drivers, cleaners and shop workers to get tests even with no symptoms (https://metro.co.uk/2020/07/09/taxi-drivers-cleaners-shop-workers-get-tests-even-no-symptoms-12967377/)
Thousands of people in high-risk occupations will now be tested for coronavirus even if they have no symptoms as part of a new pilot, the Department of Health and Social Care has announced. This includes workers whose jobs require them to come into contact with people or public spaces, such as cleaners, shop assistants or taxi drivers. The tests are expected to begin immediately. The results of the tests will improve understanding of the prevalence of the virus among high risk workers, the DHSC said. Taxi firm Addison Lee, BT, services firm Mitie and pharmacy giant Boots are among companies included in the trial.

I wonder if they'll bother here? Maybe the NTA will issue a press release in a month and let us know!

This needs to happen here, especially those drivers who work the airports.
The latest number of cases today have increased, 23 new cases 15 of which are associated with overseas travel.
It should also be a given that drivers are issued with a grant/subsidy to install a screen in their cars.

Sure aren't taxi drivers invincible?

The R number is 'at 1'. If it goes above 1, we're back into a virus outbreak. But most of the people testing positive now are travellers (of the airport kind) and people under 25.

We've always had a virus breakout, it never went away you know.
IF it goes beyond 1 we are getting into serious territory and it shows that it is spreading among the community.
The higher it goes the more pressure it will be on our health system, hence the reason for the lockdown

All today's cases under 44 I think !

In the absence of underlying health conditions the under 60s aren't really a problem... smokers excepted.

I belive there are hundreds of corona viruses and most people have or have had a few of them so shouldnt they be testing for the specific Corona Virus which they have called Covid 19?

And the obese, diabetics, Asthmatics., those with learning disabilities.
