Title: The difference is...
Post by: Rat Catcher on July 10, 2020, 05:15:50 pm
.... we rob the Irish.

I was up in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland yesterday so decided to pick up a couple of pairs of trousers from Dunnes Stores.  €44.75 including Revolut forex fee and a STG£0.05 plastic bag. Price in the Republic = €50.00 for the trousers + €0.22 for the 5p bag.

Plus the 50 euro in fuel you used for your journey there and back.
You would have saved money by buying local!

€50 fuel to Banbridge, Newry and back? Do you think I have a private jet or what? I didn't drive anyway and popping into Dunnes was incidental so zero attributable fuel. I was quids in on the plastic bag never mind the extra 12% - YES TWELVE PER CENT - that Heffernan sees fit to charge in the Irish Republic.

dunnes stopped making my shoes a few months ago.
I've worn the same model for years. they were twenty quid. they were gift driving shoes.
I'd buy a new pair every few months.
the sweatshop in Cambodia musta been liberated and all the kids sent home.

Weird, same ones I've worn myself for years... had a butchers at their stock in the UK yesterday, the current slip ons didn't appeal aesthetically. I didn't know they'd stopped making the others, just assumed they were out of stock so didn't bother trying on what they had.

Sorry, on closer inspection they're not the same model. Mine are the leather loafer 4220327 - think they were €30 odd, not expensive anyway - probably from same sweatshop as they're not coming up one the website when I search the number.

it was a nice feeling knowing that you could wear the bollocks outta them and just get the exact same set when they were fucked. they were lovely and wide and you could effortlessly get hold of the entire pedal. I got a pair in clarkes and they're too narrow and it's made me crunch the gears a few times. I'm having a goo at www.shoezone.ie (http://www.shoezone.ie) at the moment.

they're super.
you can see slight imperfections on the surface from where the hot AK-47 casings landed on them that were fired to motivate the workers.

Speaking of laces , had a junkie in the car a while back and bought a pair of shoes from him.

I don't know what he laced them with, but I was tripping all day!

I bought a pair of them bad boys in Dunnes Londonderry last week for 12 pounds. There are still some on the shelfs down here for 20 Euros. I was in Dunnes today for a chicken roll and Free can of pepsi and had a look around.
