- NTA says 45% of drivers still on the €350
- 16,000 work in the sector
- Airport screwed.  Normally, 3,000 taxis working the airport but now only 30 or so taxis.  And, guess what, they wait up to 5 hours for a fare!
- Screens:  Some taxis have them, some not.  One driver waiting until NCT done because screen is automatic fail.
- Owner of Borough Taxis (Sallynoggin) says biz is only at 40% of normal.  We should get a Govt top-up to keep us going.
- A Howth driver called Ken Newman (from this parish?) says biz is 50% of normal.

If only half the drivers are back and they are only doing 50%of what they use to that means that the amount of available work is only 25% of what it use to be .

Even better than that - they claim business is up 41% on last year, despite being in a pandemic.  Impressive work (if you can get it).

Anyone reading this would just say get another job taxi scum demand isn't bouncing back for a couple of years. The fact that some drivers are signing off the 350 means there's enough work for now.I don't see any real problem until we're all back on the road being forced to take discounts.

Are the NTA still recruiting? They were just a few months ago.

Hi Stephen,

Demand for taxis is getting back to normal levels again which is fantastic to see! We saw that drivers were offered and completed 41% more jobs last week than they did in the same week last year.
 ‌‌
Last year.

2019 - No pandemic
2020 - Pandemic but 41% increase!

 rofl

Surprised at the Sunday Times listening to whinging cabbies, surely they should be talking to the company bosses... if those lads worked for Free Now they'd have no problem... but, then, I guess Revenue and/or Welfare would know that too.

Sean Mc Govern is a company boss, it says so in the article.

I don't know if it the same Sean that ran Local cabs, Roy might know.

If its just an NCT they usually only want your rent and drivers licence (maybe) for proof of who you are
