From the beginning I thought the Greens never wanted to be elected a lot of them stood as a protest to get their message out on the 9oc news .Those TDs want to go back to their old middle class non effective PAYE pensionable jobs ,they will quit the Government before the budget so early September ,The old way would of been to bring a few Roman Catholic pub owning hill farming TDs into the tent and survive but that wont happen I still have a Paddy Power docket 40 @8/1 another General election this year.

The teachers Unions have always been Militants if there is any chance that Brona or Colum can catch a cold and are FORCED to wear masks they will down chalk and duster .This small sniffle is in the Halphpenny place compared to Brexit .Paggo and small Michael not the Big Michael from Cork are going to have to put coin away to deal with Brexit  no chance of passing a budget so another Election .If this Government looks like it going to implode then Mick from Cork cant save his job and staff car so no need to push to reopen schools .Look at where the sneeze droplets are landing now most of the infections are outside Dublin in down the Country or up there .The drive to get kids back and reopen Porter Shops was comming mainly from rural Ireland but now that the Dreaded Lurgy is spreading all over the rush to return might stall for a while .Im not confident that all levels of education will return this year and certaintly not in September .

Teachers have been on full pay since the lockdown.Parents need their kids looked after so they can return to work. Can't see why they wouldn't reopen.

We might get more cases but much fewer deaths if we can keep the elderly out of danger. In the UK they're considering including all over 50s in the next phase of cocooning.Mad stuff but the statistics don't lie.

I been out for pints with friends who have good jobs and they all say they'd rather be in work chatting with their pals in the office than homeschooling their own chisslers. They have qualifications but haven't got the patience to be a teacher.

I'm guessing trying to teach a little bit of the whole syllabus is much harder than being a teacher who specialises in only a couple of subjects.

Teachers want guidance on whether or not face masks should be made mandatory in secondary schools.

Masks are already compulsory on all public transport and the rules will include shops and shopping centres from next Monday.

Kieran Christie, General Secretary of the ASTI, says the advice about masks has changed over the last few weeks and teachers want clarity on the issue.

“There’s been significant changes in public policy the whole area of mask wearing in the months of May and early June," he said.

“Even the HSE and other bodies were very reluctant to introduce masks.

“Now public policy has changed dramatically.

“What we’ve asked is the Minister to go and ask the medical professionals to review the matter before the opening of schools so the matter is cleared up once and for all.”

Yesterday, the former Director-General of the HSE said secondary students should have to wear masks in the classroom.

Tony O'Brien said it makes sense to ask students to wear masks when they return to school.

“They’re going to need to wear masks to travel to school on public transport,” he said.

“And then when they are in situations that are likely to be equally crowded, they’ll not be required to wear them.

  Learn more
“Many of those students are going to the coming from families who have vulnerable other members of their families at home.

“Some of the teachers will have vulnerabilities, other students will have vulnerabilities.

“I think it’s just a matter until we’re going to see a requirement for masks and it would be better just to get on with it and make that clear at this stage.”

Also speaking yesterday, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says NPHET is awaiting a report from the European Centre for Disease Control on the issue.

“There is emerging evidence that younger children are far less contagious and far less susceptible than older children.

“So NPHET is waiting to see what the ECDC says.

“They may come back and they may recommend in secondary schools for example or over a particular age that face masks should be worn."

They got a bounce from all the shinner votes, that was the shinners fault for not fielding more candidates...the Greens would have been in the same position pre election otherwise....they've already had a leadership slug it out and two of their TD's have been sanctioned and placed on the naughty step.

Hundreds of children were sent home as Germany closed two schools over coronavirus infections, in a blow to hopes for a return to normality after the summer holidays.

Just days after schools in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pommerania became the first to reopen full time after the break, around 800 students were forced to head home from the Goethe Gymnasium in Ludwigslust after a teacher tested positive for Covid-19.

The teacher has not given any lessons since the secondary school reopened on Monday, but all 55 teachers will now have to be tested for the virus.

Still dont think all the schools will reopen ,if they dont then we might as well park up till Paddys Day .

Ermy what has the schools got to do with our industry apart from the school run lads?

They've said they'll close schools with cases already. That's part of the big plan.Kids don't die from the virus often.Their parents are likely under 50 so no big worries there.

if schools dont open people will have to stay home to look after kids so less people returning to work so less work for us .A lot of rural drivers depend on school runs to be viable .This bolloxology that we are no longer in lockdown is only windowdressing we are still sitting around waiting for the starting gun to fire ,no tourists ,no sports,no gigs ,no schools .Big Mick from Cork is trying to polish a shit .

Most of the lads on here wouldn't work in a fit. In fact, I'd confidently argue that TDs representing every constituency in the country work harder than us as a collective... but I think I see what you're getting at. Taximen have no problem speaking freely in confirming how much they earn and how poorly suited to the new normal they feel. Conversely, TDs in Kerry aren't going to suggest the county is busier than it's ever been or suggest that their publicans have never sold so much gargle while maintaining "quaint" cash only policies with the only trace of a fiddle being on the wage subsidy claim form.

Coronavirus cases have been reported by at least 41 schools in Berlin, barely two weeks after the German capital’s 825 schools reopened.

Cases are rising across Europe, including in Spain, which registered 66,905 in the past two weeks, resulting in the continent’s highest 14-day infection rate and warnings over the risk of a new wave of deaths.

The Berlin experience echoes that in some states in the US, including Georgia, and in Israel, which have recorded clusters tied to schools. According to reports in Berlin, all age groups have been affected, including in elementary schools, high schools and trade schools.

Berlin was one of the first places in Germany to reopen its schools after the summer holidays.

Children are obliged to wear face coverings in the hallways, during breaks and when they enter the classroom, but they can take them off once they sit in their places and classes begin.

Some critics say the measures in Berlin are too relaxed and both students and teachers should be wearing face coverings during lessons.

The situation in Spain has drawn a grim warning from the country’s health emergency chief, Fernando Simón, who told reporters: “There should be no confusion: things are not going well. If we continue to allow transmission to rise, even if most cases are mild, we will end up with many in hospital, many in intensive care and many deaths.”

More than a quarter of these new infections have been in Madrid, which was at the centre of the country’s crisis in March and April.

“We can’t say that the epidemic is out of control at a national level, but there are some specific places where it is,” Mr Simón added, without giving further details.

Deaths have also increased across Spain, with 131 dead in the last seven days compared with 12 one month ago. About 1,400 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last week, nearly double the figure a week earlier.

The rise in cases has prompted officials across Spain to roll out a series of measures, including asking regions to order the closure of brothels, a week after the government shut most nightlife establishments and imposed various other restrictions.

France, meanwhile, has recorded another large jump in new coronavirus cases, by far the highest increase since the end of the lockdown in May, leading authorities to order schoolchildren above the age of 11 to wear face coverings when they return to school in just over a week in an attempt to halt the spread of the virus.

The new policy marks a toughening of measures as coronavirus infections pick up pace in France, with 4,700 new cases reported on Thursday, a post-lockdown record.

“Use of masks will be systematic inside from middle school and not only where there is no social distancing. But outdoors, it’s a local decision,” the education minister, Jean-Michel Blanquer, said in a TV interview late on Thursday.

The French health ministry reported 23 additional deaths and 4,586 new infections over the past 24 hours on Friday. There are currently 266 clusters under investigation, and 31 French departments are deemed to be in a situation of “moderate or significant risk”.

Health experts say the increase in the number of new cases cannot be explained by the widespread testing being carried out as the rise in new cases is significantly higher than the rise in the number of tests. Hospital and intensive care admissions remain stable, say authorities.- Guardian News and Media

A lot of contradictions Number of Infections way up deaths stable .Is the fever as dangerous as they are painting it ?
Yes.  It looks like a significant minority of people who recover from the virus have long-term health problems.

The clinic [Beaumont] provides patients with access to specialists from a variety of disciplines including respiratory medicine, intensive care, infectious diseases, psychology and psychiatry.

Dr Hurley says patients come with a wide variety of lasting symptoms, including continuous shortness of breath, cough, severe fatigue, anxiety and other mental health issues.

Some of those who spent periods in intensive care are suffering a form of post-traumatic stress disorder, he says.

Many have lung problems months after their disease experience. “They still have abnormalities on their chest X-rays; there’s scarring there, particularly among those who were in intensive care.”

For a small group, even walking a short distance after six months causes them difficulties. Generally Dr Hurley finds that the more severe their illness was, the more severe are their continuing after-effects.

It seems to be a lottery how it impacts ya .....obviously in England alot bus drivers died on account of ther racial ethnicity...ie bein black or Indian....apparently in America most who died wer African American .....
It would be interesting if they used that ancestry data base to see who is more prone to the flu .....then they cud study the Gene of the ones that are relatively impervious like the 80 percent who dont show any symptoms......

unfortunately  for  me bein one of the very few in the country  proven 100%   Celtic fine specimen that I am wud probably snuff it with this ting as I'm not a mongrel like yous lot and the  " normal" flu has almost killed me twice caused by these Asian imported bat an rat flu I've no immunity to them cnuts atall arall

Early recall agreed to. The knives are being sharpened.
As big Phil said: "Drink will spill and blood will flow and if the boys wanna fight, you better let 'em".

The Golden State killer might disagree...given that family members gave their DNA to trace their ancestry.....didn't work out too well for him.

It's on the rise again all over the shop. France in quadruple daily figures again, so too Spain. South Korea under more severe restrictions again. People need to cop on to how insideous this little varmint is. I'd be very interested to know what's going on in North Korea. I'd say it's rampant and they're just fucking the bodies into a pit. Not even bothering to treat them. Not that they would have the medical facilities etc. Comrade Rocket Man will be feeding them shit as per. Like the time he told them that the national team beat the yanks 97-0 in the Olympics at footie.

DO YOU SEE HOW THIS WORKS .....Varadkar says Phil Hogan's apology 'definitely helps' but calls on EU Commissioner to 'account for himself'...LEO didnt say he dosent accept the appology then passes the Buck to Big Phils Boss .Who will say Comissioner Hogan is an Important part of the EUROPEAN TEAM in talks with the UK on Brexit and it would not be adventagious to change the team at this delicate moment .So Ireland will take one for the Good of EUROPE .Well played Fill you will get a Mulligan on this .

The latest lies from Hogan....
Apparently he stopped off "briefly" in Kildare on his way to the knees- up in Galliamh to collect "personal belongings" and "essential work documents" related to "EU/US trade negotiations", which continued "while he was in Galway"
It's non stop now. As Jim Reeves said: "He'll have to go".
Von Der Leyen is seemingly watching developments regarding Hogan "closely".
You know what that means.....P45 in the post

Would you ever look at those 22 multi- millionaire school dropouts all crying on the pitch, some cos they won some cos they lost. Pathetic. And absolutely no social distancing going on whatsoever, either between the players hugging each other, or even the officials putting the medals on them and shaking their hands. What fucking planet are these people on? This is akin to any abuse of any covid guidelines in any country. If one room of those Bayern Munich players tests positive, they all test positive. Every one of them kissing the cup and practically humping each other.
FIFA should sort this shit out.
