This is a position of unions regardless 15th of September.

Our submission to covid19 committee included a heading.
Buy back scheme or allow Transfer of licence. We Prefer buy back which would keep numbers down and when business picks up again they could be reissued.  But that would cost the government money which will be hard to achieve. We are also conscious the only way legally to pass on your licence on to a person of your choice is by death at the moment. We would be off the opinion drivers who bought their licence could transfer a licence if buy back is ruled out This would give "renters" an opportunity to own their own plate and people who are now comprised with health issues or older drivers who want to retire could sell plate to offset costs already incurred.
We would like to enter talks with government keeping in mind we already have to many taxis on the road.

She also wished to acknowledge the, quote, "lazy bastards who are sitting at home scratching their holes and sniffing their finger, whilst happily taking the covid coin and making zero net contribution to the struggling economy". "Spongin' cunts", she quipped as she walked away.

Nice to be acknowledged. We do contribute to the economy though, every time we go to the bar, every time we buy gargle to drink at home, every time we buy a new string vest, etc, etc...

Not to mention keeping our trade viable for those who want to spread disease.

Google has walked away from a plan to rent space in Dublin’s docklands for as many as 2,000 workers, shelving one of the city’s biggest property deals in recent years.

You can't blame them. Why pay for tons of ridiculously expensive office space (way overpriced I'd imagine. It's not London or NYC), and then tell most of them to work from home. Doesn't make sense.

Many of the Google employees are non Irish. If it's now so easy to work from home, why can't they, or why wouldn't they want to, work from home in their own countries, thereby reducing residential rents here?

They consider them self Irish after few pints of Guinness and bag of chips i guess. But yes you right Google is responsible for residential rental increase (fact)

To answer your question in the context of attracting supporters, Jonno, I think Maxi posted an agenda which was, frankly, embarrassing from a literacy perspective. Another agenda was posted on another thread as well - I think that focussed on the need for subsidies to get drivers back to work because there's supposed to be no work - so there's plenty enough on offer to satisfy a broad range of whims.

In the context of running a profitable event I guess it's about filling the buckets. The last one organised by Oxo and Waldron suggested the coin would go to (investigating the potential for) judicial review of the last fare increase. It turned out there was no judicial review and I didn't hear what was alleged to have been done with the money collected.

I agree but remember some of the union leaders and Ebbs and even Vinny have rentals parked up gathering dust and not earning. The rental prices have plummeted.

I've seen an advert from Ebbs for a rent to buy taxi. They haven't done that in years. They want the government to give us €200 a week so drivers can rent their vehicles....or worse compete against their rentals in our own cars.Fuk them. They're not doing anything to help us at all.

We should be allowed not work and get €350/week for the same. That way drivers who want to work might get some of the reward they deserve. I wonder if any of these Union morons ever listen to themselves... we want more men working because there's no work?

He grilled the fuck out of him and had him sputtering and stuttering a fair bit. If meehawl was listening in, I don't think we'll be getting much help based on what he would have heard.

PK is saying the rep is on after the ads (10.25am)...

This must be what it was like in the old days waiting for a radio cab to turn up  O:-)

FN just had an ad on... Co-incidence?
Probably just wants to get him in and out asap cos he's not in the mood for waiting for a load of lies

PK let Jim Waldron talk & didn't question him too much.  I thought JW did ok.  Usually the reps rant a lot and suggest stupid stuff but he was reasonably sensible today.  JW said more than 1,500 drivers turned up, maybe 2,000 or more.

We are being put in an impossible situation.  We're getting €250-350/week guaranteed by the Govt but if we sign off, we could get nothing on the streets and no way back onto 'the dole'.  If you've got family/bills to pay, why risk it?  I don't know how you'd do it but we should be able to dip our toe in the water and if it doesn't work out, go back on the PUP.  We're getting a big chop in the PUP next week, just ahead of a probable new surge in c19 cases in Dublin.  And the wet pubs are still shut.

Protests wont change this situation. When you identify and accept the problem...then you can clearly deal with it or evade it.Mass infections are upon us now and into the future. There will be more need for doctors and nurses and far less need for taxis..A lot of people will get stuck in the middle of the road ...with full beam headlights blinding them...Try to be proactive or sit and wait and hope............

Every industry is claiming to be left behind, the public have little sympathy for us,they've got their own problems. How the hell can you protest against a pandemic, bizzare stuff.Stay on the Covid scratcher as long as you can. It's hardly gonna get busier when more drivers get back on the road.

RTE are claiming that those protesting unions represent tens of thousands of drivers. There's not even tens of thousands of taxis in the country...certainly not Dublin. What a load of bollox.

The Reps are self serving fucktards .They want 2 more years on the cars .WHY if you havent got a car fuck off WHY try to save lads who wont invest .Free Licences WHY so part timers and renters can sit and wait .The only sensible suggestion was income subsidies .That should of been the ONLY issue every other industry is getting subsidised .But High Pissing Contests have no rules .

Here's a load of ambiguous shite from Heehaw Martin.
A 600m "winter initiative package"- with no info as to it is for,it won't be us anyway. Looks like the protest missed the boat.
Puppy will open to "new" entrants. No mention of old entrants.

In all the years of being an observer of Roys website, youve come out with the same stuff. You said time and time again, "to get someone elected"
Yet Ive never seen you go up for election, nor have I seen you represent drivers.
Why dont you set up your won Rep group get elected? Might be a bit better than typing from your armchair.
No?

Justin me oul mate I met with nearly all the rep groups to try get somebody on to the council It was agreed at the time our conversations would remain private .When I first said this in the Transport Club The Greens has 1 City Councillor yes 1 People before profit had NONE ..What scares Politicians is when you try to take their Gig .Im sure Justin you made a submission to the taxi review not like you to sit around doing fuck all like a Hurler on the Ditch .The Opportunity was lost .The Greens took their Chance the Leftie Socialists took their chance we didnt .

Look at Taxi drivers Some are full time some work when their missus is home some mind kids .There is no such thing as a standard taxi driver and they are unrepresentable as they all want different things from the industry .If you want a Uniform Industry then you must be like London Black Cabs STANDARDS .Think it was Frankie this is a Part time Gig not a career .

Back to the strike... Whoever read the 11:00 bulletin on Radio Eireann said there was only four unions involved and that those four represent "tens of thousands" of drivers between them... Is Free Now a union now or what?

Your deluded  You already have a car so no extra cost to own car .You get cheaper road tax off sets a bit of the extra insurance .The only extra cost is about a grand a year insurance about 500 in service charges and a suitability .A long way from your imaginary 10K extra to drive a taxi .

If I had a choice keep the 250 and work with a full fleet or stay or home and get the 250 I'd stay at home. Many of yis underestimate your costs on here.Shite at maths generally.

Met an old mate this morning and he's struggling to gross a tenner an hour on the early mornings. How shit is it gonna be when everyone comes back. The protesters should be encouraging those who can afford it to stay at home not asking for handouts to get us back on the road.

I took a bus eireann coach to Dublin this morning (and you'd know the bus wasn't just after being disinfected).
Only one person per row, but people could sit behind or in front of you. Some smelly bastard got on at drogheda and sat behind me. I didn't want to risk my sausage McMuffin coming back up. I got up straight away and moved down a few rows to get away from the animal.
It just brought home to me how much shit we're breathing in (both stuff you can smell and stuff you can't) including the current pox crisis.

You only have to kiss one smelly cunt with a 69!
