Title: Paid holidays
Post by: taxi1990 on September 14, 2020, 09:29:19 am
Should self employed not be entitled to take a few days off every year and be paid for them? if you are an employee of the state or of a private company you get a few weeks off with pay. why aren't we entitled to even 1 day off per year with pay?

The Government should pay for it. self employed people contribute to the economy and we don't even get 1 day off with pay a year. Yet they throw money at the unemployed, even give them a bonus at Christmas.

I think it's likely that if we got two or three weeks holidays every year then we'd be levied in some way.Maybe they'll call it the holiday tax.

I'm not very organised but the smart thing to do would be to put €40 a week into a separate account and make your own holiday pay fund.I think the taxman expects a little under-declaring from all sections of the self-employed so it probably balances out for them.

I'm sure there are savings schemes available to facilitate paying yourself while on holiday.
