Title: Free Now making the LAW
Post by: john m on October 27, 2020, 06:38:31 am
The lack of legislation mandating the wearing of face coverings in taxis has resulted in passengers “challenging” drivers over the issue, the head of a taxi company has claimed.

Niall Carson, general manger of Free Now, has called on the Government to legislate for the mandatory wearing of face coverings while in taxis.

Since July 13th it has been a legal requirement to wear face coverings while on public transport. Speaking in the Dáil later that month, Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan said his department was working on “extending the mandatory approach” to include the taxi sector. However, it has not yet been extended.

Mr Carson said the lack of regulation on the issue is endangering passengers and drivers.

“It’s mandatory in public transport and mandatory in shops but isn’t in taxis. The fact that the legislation hasn’t caught up is quite disappointing,” he said.

He said the Minister “committed to it in July, and nobody is under any illusion that there hasn’t been a lot going on, but from a driver safety point of view it is a genuine issue.”

Are they just trying to cover their own arse just in case somebody gets the virus in a taxi driver or passenger and takes them to court saying that the advertising screen was presented as a safety device even though there is no evidence that they are worth a fuck .Truth probably is they have a solicitors letter in the office asking for the safety statement that goes with the screens they have been promoting to drivers and passengers .

29 June 2020 --> 27 Oct 2020 (4 months?)

NTA: Face coverings to become compulsory (https://www.nationaltransport.ie/face-coverings-to-become-compulsory/)

Quote
Face coverings will shortly be compulsory on all SPSV services.  Wearing a face covering is already strongly recommended. Now it is to become mandatory.

We will keep you updated.

So you pick up three lads in the flats none of them wearing masks are you going to throw them out of the car and are you going to be fined for transporting them without masks ,Cop the fuck on Masks would make driving a taxi impossible .WE ARE NOT PUBLIC TRANSPORT .Thankfully the NTA are using common sense and not trying to create a dangerous situation for drivers .

IF you get a Free Now job and when you turn up the passenger has no mask will Free Now give you a scrub Fee?

Fill in the blanks...

Bus drivers don't have to wear a mask because they work behind a screen

Shop workers don't have to wear a mask because they work behind a screen

Taxi drivers                                            because some of them work behind a screen

Strangers sharing a private car are advised to wear a mask because "social distancing"

The people what know stuff should tell us the right answer  ::fds

+1 Watty

If they insist on a Taxi Driver wearing a mask and he has a screen in place then surely the shopkeeper should do so as well

No 1 golden rule for drivers..... keep your doors locked at all times, especially on the ranks. Then you can tell the passengers to fup off if you don't care for their demeanor.

TThere are loads and loads of contradictions in the legislation, but I still ask the question .how can it be ok for a taxi driver to work in the present circumstances, but NOT ok for a driving instructor ?

I imagine that the mandatory  wearing of a face covering that restricts your breathing  and therefore your oxygen intake while driving a 2 ton (or more) vehicle would be a road safety concern . I'd love to hear what an Gardai and the  insurance companies have say about this !

It has been proven and shown that wearing a mask does NOT restrict your breathing. In fact an Irish Doctor showed on video, him wearing 6 masks and his oxygen level remained the same throughout.
Its online go look it up

I dont need "to look it up" I base my understanding of the world and how it works on my own real experience not some guy on a video and have put on a mask so I know that  it restricts my breathing.
Imagine all  these turkeys believing in stuff off the T.V. and the Internet  like it was the truth.. now that's the kind of blind faith  the auld parish priest would have given an altarboys right arm for !   rofl

Screens were only 25 bucks fer ambassadors.
But even with a screen up (night time driver) very few FN jobs request a screen, 1 in 20 be a decent guess.

Even before I stopped work 2 months ago,I was NEVER asked why I had no screen.I dont think people give a bollox if you have a screen or not.its a casr of FN pretending they actually give a bollox, when all they have done is to put drivers under pressure ,even men who could ill afford the 50 euro.they are scumbags who dont have the slightest interest in the welfare of the drivers,or the customers .how you guys can continue to support these cunts is beyond me.hey have no principles whatsoever

I refuse to strap a maxipad to my face and I listened to about 18 years worth of bollocks in the space of about 2 months.
had to duck out of the game for a few weeks. I'm gonna get a charlie sheen put in before I go back for crimbo. it'll shut cunts up please god.

Dalymount, The horse has bolted. App work is the future, at least for 80% of the business. The sooner you realise this the better. Remember how the southern states refused to believe slavery was over, they were left behind by the northern states in terms of development. Hating FN is akin to hating Tesco, Google, Facebook, they are here to stay. Just accept it.

^^^™™™DMG if you want to work the app you need to play along with the passengers. They can rate you after every job.If enough of them don't like yer loada bollox stance you might find the app starts to starve ya.That's not me winding you up but that's exactly why the app has ratings integrated into to it.

It's intended to alert Freenow if yer pissing the customers off.Just see where the passengers stand and play along.Customer is always right and all that shite.

that's true.
but I don't piss anybody off. they piss themselves off.
if it's a sensitive topic for them well don't fuckin talk about then. I've no problem with your space suit and your mask and your rubber gloves. leave me the fuck alone.
I remember the abortion referendum a couple a years ago. it does'nt get more sensitive than that and of course you were damned listenin to thick cunts asking your opinion.
a cow starts askin me about my opinion on the matter one night and of course I balked at the bad taste of the question and I said if a woman aborts a sprog she should be aborted as well.
what if she was bent over against her will she says.
it's all a loada bollocks either way I says.
well the fuckin digs started flyin at me.

I have never denied app work is the popular choice of customers, but its only. Exist because drivers are prepared to provide them with the service.the point im making is,FN are disingenuous with both drivers, and customers .they dont give a bollox about either ,and they have no principles.to come on the radio and PRETEND to care about people welfare during these covid times is utterly repulsive

people know the whole thing is all a loada bollocks but they're towing the line because they're thick and they've no spine and it's inconceivable to go against the 24/7 propaganda.
that's why they throw a strop at you because they're blindly taking orders like cunts and they see that you are'nt.
i.e, I'm being made look like cunt. you should make yourself look like a cunt as well so I don't look like a cunt on my own.
