Uber is now a food delivery company with a substantial sideline in taxis (https://www.theregister.com/2020/11/09/uber_q3_2020/)
The food side of things seems to be doing ok & even made a profit in 10 countries. But the rideshare side, not so much...
One thing that hasn’t changed is Uber making losses, about $1.1bn in this quarter. But CFO Nelson Chai offered the caveat-laden comment that “we remain confident in our ability to achieve quarterly Adjusted EBITDA profitability before the end of 2021.” The company has around $6bn of cash jangling around to help it get there.

Kinda related but they offered 1.2 billion for the worldwide Freenow operation.I read that BMW are holding up the deal.

what percentage do Uber take from their drivers in America or the UK?

At least 20% but as high as 30% in some places. Then factor in the dynamic pricing which raises the fare when it's busy and lowers the fares when it's quiet.

Not good news if they buy freenow so. 1 billion dollars doesnt seem enough though.
