Since March there has been a surge in cycle lanes and plastic wands segregating them from traffic.
However, this is making it literally impossible for taxi drivers to pull in, to allow passengers to exit the vehicle.
The solution?

I can see the problem of picking up someone in ther gaff an waiting and blocking traffic for an extended period ...you will have to phone them and arrange a drive by meeting wer they ready to jump in .....but if they are getting out you just stop with yur hazards on ...if the powers that be have not cared to figure that out without any consideration of the issue then neither shud we ......in other words ...fuk the traffic congestion behind ya

Well said,my thoughts exactly

That bleedin clontarf road is a dead loss trying to stop since they put the cycle lanes in .they made the road to narrow to facilitie the cycle lanes on it

Makes sense. The trade - both drivers and bossmen - were quick to point out how unsuited taxis are to the new normal. In fact the two men complaining now are to the fore in stressing that very point. DM, in particular, went as far as to level abuse at drivers working during the pandemic... until he done it himself, of course.
In the circumstances it's incumbent on NTA/Govt to promote and incentivise safer, healthier, environmentally friendlier forms of transport such as cycling, walking, jogging, running, (electric) rickshaws, rideshare, etc, etc.

I never criticised anyone for working, in fact I applauded them... virtually and literally. The "reps" on the other hand - along with the likes of DM and JIT - were heavily critical of the same men, suggesting they have super spreader status and proclaiming that taxis are wholly unsuited to the new normal. Govt/NTA take notice of them and they're whinging again. In general taxi drivers' self appointed reps need to be reminded how thick they are on an hourly basis, lest they forget.... and they will... forget, that is.
