Better or Worse ?
With Vaccines and Biden and Leo waiting in the Wings will 2021 be better than 2020 ?Im going worse by a lot .The Vaccine will be a bottle of Smoke unless we get about seven or eight different ones Its all bolloxology they cant make the stuff as quick as they can inject it .Covid Coin will run out then its go to work or go on the Dole .The Brexit thing Hard or Soft will fuck up our economy no work to go to .If Biden dosent start a war with somebody he will be the first Democrat not to .This time next year we might be looking back at 2020 as the good old days .

Dont Know Doc .I worked as a welder no great health and safety or ventilation back then dont smoke but I wouldnt think my lungs are great .I dont like the idea of ferrying around drunks for coin .I wonder if as we know the smell of gargle off peoples breath can sometimes be overwhelming at times in a taxi so is the Dizzeeeeze more likely to spread on alcoholic vapour than in other environments .Is this part of the reason they have reduced how long you can sit in a porter shop portering and want Wet pubs closed .Got to be honest Doc there is a bit of me agrees with you but there is a bit of me respects the Killer Virus and thats the bit wrecks your head is it worth taking a chance for chump change .Think lads that need to work need to work but it worries me a bit might go as far as saying it frightens me .

I MUST BE PHYSIC...The Cabinet has agreed a range of new Covid-19 restrictions which will see intercounty travel banned after Stephen’s Day.
Restaurants and pubs that serve food will be asked to close on Christmas Eve at 3pm.
Hairdressers, barbers and other personal services will close on the same day.
Three households will be allowed meet in one home until St Stephen’s Day after which it will be reduced to two housesholds until December 31. Household visits will be banned in the New Year.

Religious services will end on Christmas Day and move online. However, places of worship will remain open for private prayer.

The new Covid-19 restrictions which are being introduced over Christmas will be reviewed by Government on January 12.

From the first week of January, shipments of around 40,000 vaccines will arrive every week in Ireland.

In fairness, the Govt is dealing with an unprecedented situation. They have to choose between shutting the country down completely and ruining the economy. Or keeping it open and having lots of people die. Further complicating things is the world is now interconnected and we have our own little Northern Ireland situation. They've chosen a middle path. No matter what they choose, there'd still be loopholes and anomalies.
At least this Govt is not behaving like Boris in the UK. He did a press conference yesterday where a journalist asked him why he kept overpromising and underdelivering. He responded by telling her not to worry, it'd all be over by Easter. He probably picked the wrong journalist to lie to. She was the one who broke the Cummings 'I was testing my eyesite' story!

I could never understand how having a meal in a pub offers any more protection against covid then NOT having a meal.
The logic is that if you fill up on food you can't fill up with porter as well and start hugging and kissing people.

It's a numbers game. The NHS in England (not UK) is a week or two away from collapsing as they run out of ITU beds. Wales has also cancelled all elective surgery. Since the new virus spreads so much quicker, you run the risk of running out of beds that much quicker. The longer you can keep the hospitals open AND vaccinating people, the better odds you have of beating the virus.
If the virus overwhelms the NHS, the elderly start dying, then the doctors and nurses start dropping from the virus and exhaustion, and then you've nobody left to do the vaccinations.
We're playing the same game in Ireland but we're doing it better as our hospitals are still open*.
* In fact, I got a letter last week for an outpatient appointment 2 years after I asked for it. Appointment is in another 3 months! Can't get better than that :P
