Boris Johnson launched a blistering attack on China, blaming its 'demented' traditional medical practices for the coronavirus pandemic.
In a speech to world leaders yesterday he attacked people who 'grind up the scales of a pangolin' in a bid to become more 'potent'.
He made the remarks, which risk a furious diplomatic row - in a speech to the One Planet Summit, hosted by France's President Macron.
Pangolins are heavily-trafficked scaly anteater-like creatures, which have been blamed for transmitting the virus from bats to humans.
The first documented cases of the Covid-19 were in the Chinese city of Wuhan, with a wet market trading in exotic animals being seen as the probable source.

You dont die or Covid you die with Covid most people who die have underlying conditions .I seriously think Trump and his ilk blew this out of all proportion and created a pandemic of fear .A lot of old people die from lack of movement .They are confined to their cell and unlike Prisoners who get out for an hour the old people are confined .This leads to a build up of fluid and Constipation which contracts the Lungspace leading to breathing difficulties that leads to lack of oxygen in the bloodstream .To my way of thinking the Cure is more dangerous than the ailment .We have a Flu that has mutated simply because they delayed the vaccine .Probably for Political reasons .Who would of thought that an American President would instigate Violence among his own countrymen .I dont believe for a Nanno Second this was invented in China if it was China would now be a Nuclear wasteland .

Heard that man from Kerry on the wireless yesterday. Born in 1913, so now 107 yrs old, voice strong, memory, and mind good. Got the Spanish flu when he was 5, told he wouldn't make 6, lost his mother to the same flu. Amazing that, on death's door as a child, one would never expect to live another 101 years.

White House counsel and Barr warned Trump not to self-pardon

Washington (CNN) White House counsel Pat Cipollone and former Attorney General Bill Barr have warned President Donald Trump that they do not believe he should pardon himself, multiple sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.
Barr conveyed this position to Trump before resigning last month, sources say.
Trump has in recent weeks raised the idea of pardoning himself, as well as members of his family, though it is not known if he has done so since Wednesday's attack on the Capitol. Trump has been heavily criticized for his role inciting the attack. Over the weekend, the acting US attorney for the District of Columbia told NPR that top prosecutors will follow every investigative lead they can to determine people's roles in the attack, even if that involves scrutinizing government officials.
White House officials are also contemplating how the federal investigation into the insurrection affects other pardons Trump has discussed, such as for his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani who called for "trial by combat" at Wednesday's rally before the Capitol was stormed.
"The situation in DC has raised issues within the White House even on the pardons," one person close to the White House said.
Additional pardons are expected from the White House before Trump leaves office next week.
CNN did not immediately hear back from the White House and Barr did not immediately provide a comment to CNN.
Trump probably can't pardon himself. He may still try
Presidential pardon power is untested and sources say both Barr and Cipollone thought it would be a bad idea for Trump to try to pardon himself. Barr believes a 1974 Justice Department legal memo finding that the president cannot pardon himself should stand, and Cipollone has not asked the Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel for a re-examination of the issue, according to two sources.
The memo clearly states that under "the fundamental rule that no one may be a judge in his own case, the President cannot pardon himself."
The memo does say, however, that a sitting president can resign the office and then be pardoned by his vice president once that person assumes the presidency. That is what happened when President Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon in 1974.
Two separate sources close to Vice President Mike Pence say it is highly unlikely that Pence would issue a pardon to Trump in this scenario. Pence had been a loyal supporter of the President, but now feels frustrated and disappointed with Trump for his behavior around the insurrection and not calling to check on him during and after the riots, multiple sources said.
Trump could still pardon himself even if his administration officials don't approve of the action. A self-pardon would only extend to federal crimes, and not protect Trump from state actions, including an investigation by New York state prosecutors into Trump's personal and corporate finances. A self-pardon would also likely be contested in court.
Typically, the White House Counsel's Office would ask the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel to issue an opinion on weighty legal issues. This office is responsible for giving opinions on executive branch power, and in general tends to take an expansive view of presidential power.
Barr and Cipollone's opposition to Trump pardoning himself is notable because both have been staunch defenders of Trump wielding an expansive executive authority during both the Russia probe and the 2020 impeachment proceedings over his call with the Ukrainian President.
Both men have recently been at odds with the President over his election lie. Barr left his post in December after publicly stating there was no widespread election fraud and Cipollone has considered resigning in recent weeks after strongly disagreeing with the President and his desire to use his office to overturn the election results.

Labour will force a vote in the House of Commons on the Tories' plans to slash Universal Credit by £20 a week.
The party will demand Tory MPs put their names to their actions on Monday night after Boris Johnson refused to drop the cut.
Universal Credit was raised by £1,040 "temporarily" for the 2020/21 financial year to help with the impact of coronavirus.
As it stands, the government plans to cut the basic monthly allowance from £409.89 to £324.84 on April 12.
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has suggested that could throw 200,000 children into poverty.
Boris Johnson on Wednesday insisted there was no final decision - but said he would "rather see a focus on jobs and a growth in wages than focusing on welfare".

That is despite the fact 39% of the 5.7million people on Universal Credit in October already had a job.
Labour's planned Opposition Day motion would not be binding, but is designed to shame Tory MPs for sitting on the fence.
Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said: "Under the Conservatives, families come last.
"Boris Johnson’s decision to cut universal credit will hit millions of families who are already struggling to get by.
“There cannot be another repeat of the government’s indecision and mismanagement of the free school meals scandal.
"The government must put families first during this lockdown and act now instead of waiting until the last minute.
“If ministers refuse, Conservative MPs have to opportunity to vote with Labour and give families the support they need to get through this pandemic.”
Chancellor Rishi Sunak is concerned about the impact of a permanent Universal Credit rise on public finances.
It would add at least £6bn a year to public spending. It had been thought a change would be announced in the March 3 Budget.
But Work and Pensions Committee chairman Stephen Timms told the PM: "Isn't it unfair leaving it until March before they find out whether that cut is going ahead?"
Grilled at the Liaison Committee on Wednesday, Mr Johnson stressed any final rate was still under review - but refused calls to end the agony for families now.
He said: "I take your point. I think what we want to see is jobs. We want to see people in employment, we want to see the economy bouncing back.
“I think most people in this country would rather see a focus on jobs and a growth in wages than focusing on welfare.
"But clearly we have to keep all these things under review

By my calculations Free Now need at least 10,000 drivers to buy EV chargers in the next 12 months to meet it's emissions commitment. It seems unlikely they'll get that many from the existing fleet so, in a word Octy, yes.
