In France, chauffeurs and taxi-drivers – who suffered higher death rates than healthcare workers in France’s first wave of infections – have been prioritized for vaccination. Five million other workers – including school staff, shop workers and people working in abattoirs or on construction sites – are also designated as being in high-risk occupations and prioritised for vaccination in France.
In Ireland NONE of these people are worthy of a needle .

Cheers.
Someone asked a reasonable question. Why, on a once off basis don't major drug manufacturers allow generic drug producers help in the speedy production of vaccines covered by Intellectual property rights for humanitarian reasons?

How's your patent law?

S'pose it's like car parts, they can't be reproduced for x amount of years but eventually they're licenced...like generic drugs.

Silver I wonder based on Working Drivers how many have caught Covid .Of the few on here there are two .We didnt really come into contact from our Sofas .But how are old people without cars or family going to get to their doctor or inoculation center .A taxi is an ideal vehicle .It would make sense to offer us the Needle if we are out working .

Totally agree with you.

Stop making sense lads!!

Hal if these Vaccines need to be delivered to Individual Doctors Surgeries NATIONWIDE who better that Local taxi drivers to drive the Vans or Delivery Vehicles. A Taxi would not be a suitable vehicle to transport the Vaccine's but Drivers would be highly trained and posses great local knowledge as delivery is time sensitive a driver with local knowledge could save time .I recently done a Haz Chem ADR Cert .I contacted the Ministers Office to ask what rules covered the distribution of Cold Chain Vaccines based on the reply I dont think they considered the Carriage of Hazardous Goods legislation .In fact I see in todays Newspaper they are calling for the Army to get involved in the Distribution .If I am Correct about transporting in Dry Ice I wonder if there are enough trained licensed drivers to distribute the Vaccines .Why not recruit a team of taxi drivers train them and offer them short term contracts to deliver the stuff .This could be an ongoing situation .As I said I have contacted the Minister requesting guidance on what are the conditions laid down by his department to transport the Vaccines .Im hoping they will now develop a policy now that they have been alerted to the existence of a Hazardous Transport act .
-
First off they don't have enough vaccines yet so stop complaining. The old and vulnerable first.Fuk everyone else until there's enough to go round.Half the coffin dodgers on the hospital ranks are doing it to get out of the gaff.
Secondly what is so special about taxi drivers that makes them uniquely qualified to drive vaccines around.Anyone with a driving licence can drive a van for minimum wage.Plenty of army lads sitting around getting paid for doing nothing.
-
Apparently the ingeland vaccine is useless against the new south African strain .....I heard them on the owlones telly across the hall .....they disnt say it directly but yu can read behind the lines .....so weel be gettin new varieties of vaccines all rushed in made by sprinting overworked scientists.....weel probably all get cancer out this ting wit the shite they goin needle us with .......
Anyway snow on the way so it's not all bad news ....
-
I'd say ingerland will be happy to share that particular vaccine with the EU.....now!!
-
Just off the Phone talking to the fella that offered me a job a few months ago to deliver Medicines on a day rate .Asked him about the Vaccine deliveries .He recons the EU are having cold feet about the Astra Zenecha Vaccine they might of rushed its approval .He says look at the Newspapers every Day there is a story about The Astra Vax not working or not working for certain people .He recons countries will soon refuse to accept or use it .You dont read about Pfiser or Moderna Vaxines not working .
Probably explains the row between the EU and the Company probably looking to say they broke the contract and the EU want their coin back .

Surprised they haven't offered to do the injections themselves....they've been quite good up to now at inserting it in to taxi drivers.

The point is moot. Ermy working 6 days a week at €90 a day is as implausible as Ermy working at all.

NO .But a lot of those companies are now offering Day Rate take it or leave it their van .Thing is you arrive at 7AM to pick up the van already loaded you just drive but as your on Day rate they dont give a fuck you can wait till contractors are loaded .Lucky if you get away before 10 AM .I did work for they a few years ago .Their idea of a days work Pick up van in Rathcool .Drop in Mullingar then up to Sligo to pick up a load over to the Prison in Roscommon then Roscommon Hospital then Tullamore on the way back and there might be a few chemists thrown in on the way .
-
Would you not get your own van and hack? They're probably the only drivers making a quid at the moment.
