Two new homegrown variants of Covid-19 have been identified in the UK, both containing a mutation found on the Brazilian and South African strains.
One of the new variants, first identified in Bristol, has been designated a "variant of concern", by the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (NERVTAG).
The other, first identified in Liverpool, has been designated as a "variant under investigation" by the group.
Public Health England has a "high degree of confidence that the vaccines will work against variants", including the Bristol variant of concern.
Some 76 cases of the two new strains have been found so far in the UK.

Frightening Stuff Silver .Dont think the Politicians are telling the truth .One minute we have a vaccine then Oh sorry the virus has mutated and we are not sure the vaccine is working .How much longer can those Nurses and Doctors carry on and how long before Powdered Wigs decide to sue the Government and the Hospitals and the HSE for PTSD .

At this stage Silver its not the Virus that concerns me most ,its the political response .Nobody in this country is in command Dr Hooligan has disappeared off the telly .Donnolly does not inspire confidence .The Smiley youngone on Virgin Media reports the death count like a GAA score .Then there is the unfairness Civil and Public servants on full coin working from home other workers working from home but low paid shop workers taxi drivers 9 to 5er struggling both financially and mentally .Something is going to blow .
