It's probably like olive oil i.e. not to be subject to high temperatures, Octy? I doubt Doc would be frying with it, he's probably just adding a bit for flavour. Modern pans (e.g. JML Copperstone) don't need any oil/grease/lard to cook a pancake... in fact, superglue would struggle to stick to them!

you need a birra lube to fry a pancake as far as I know.
you can't use any kinda oil because it'll be absorbed and you'll get this scaldy greasy sponge yoke.

I'm just reading wiki ...apparently it's not using the hydrogenated for a number of yers

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cookeen

If yur frying I use rapeseed oil ....accordin to the "experts" it's good for yur heart an has a high boiling point
...olive oil I dont cook with as it burns up an the owlone next door only uses it on salads......

Get yourself a JML Copperstone pan... I'm not a fan of non stick in general, in fact all my pots are 25+ year old stainless steel... but I do like the Copperstone frying pan and wok... only disadvantage is you can't (afaik) bang 'em into the oven, back to the SS pan for that.

I agree, Octy... I always use rapeseed oil for cooking - apart from a fried egg, sunflower oil for that - and olive oil for dressing... although I often see Jamie Oliver cooking with olive oil on the box.
