The public mood has dramatically shifted in the fight against Covid- 19, according to a landmark Kantar/Sunday Independent opinion poll, which has found soaring levels of disapproval at the Government's handling of the pandemic, the roll-out of the vaccination programme and duration of Level 5 restrictions to limit spread of the virus.
For the first time in a year, approval for the Government's handling of the pandemic (43pc) has dropped below the 50pc mark - a massive 19-point decrease since the last poll was taken in November/December and a 35-point drop since this time last year.
After a week of controversy around the Beacon Hospital vaccination of teachers at a private school, and a generally slow vaccination programme, the poll also finds strong disapproval (53pc) at the manner in which the Government has dealt with the roll-out of vaccines, with just a third (29pc) approving and only 7pc strongly approving.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has been forced to move out of his home in Dublin's Castleknock to a more secure location in the capital, due to "credible" death threats.
A fortnight ago, this newspaper revealed that several death threats have been levelled against the Tánaiste in recent weeks, leading to him now requiring round-the-clock armed garda protection. Senior sources say the deaths threats are being taken "extremely seriously" and gardaí are "responding appropriately" in terms of providing protection for Mr Varadkar.
Well-placed sources now say that, upon advice from gardaí, the Tánaiste and his partner Matt Barrett have moved out of their Castleknock home.

There has been another night of trouble on the streets in Northern Ireland with PSNI officers responding to reports of disorder in Newtownabbey in Co Antrim.
Video footage emerged on social media of cars being hijacked and burned out in the area.
The PSNI appealed for calm and asked anyone with any influence in the community to try to ensure young people do not get caught up in criminality.
It comes after eight people were arrested and 27 police officers injured during riots in Belfast and Derry on Friday night.
In Belfast, two boys, aged 13 and 14, were among eight people arrested in connection with riots in a loyalist area of the city.
Police said 15 officers were injured on Friday night after being targeted by a crowd of mainly young people in Sandy Row, throwing stones, fireworks, flares, manhole covers and petrol bombs.
Political leaders have also called for calm.
First Minister and DUP leader, Arlene Foster, urged young people "not to get drawn into disorder", saying violence "will not make things better".
She said: "I know that many of our young people are hugely frustrated by the events of this last week but causing injury to police officers will not make things better.
"And I send my strong support to all of the rank-and-file police officers that are on duty over this Easter weekend.
"I appeal to our young people not to get drawn into disorder which will lead to them having criminal convictions and blighting their own lives.
"I also ask parents to play their part and be proactive in protecting their young adults."
Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis described the unrest as "completely unacceptable".
He said: "Violence is never the answer. There is no place for it in society. It is unwanted, unwarranted and I fully support the PSNI appeal for calm."
The disorder has flared amid ongoing tensions within loyalism across Northern Ireland.
Loyalists and unionists are angry about post-Brexit trading arrangements which they claim have created barriers between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
Tensions ramped up further this week following a controversial decision not to prosecute 24 Sinn Féin politicians for attending a large-scale republican funeral during Covid-19 restrictions.
All the main unionist parties have demanded the resignation of PSNI Chief Constable Simon Byrne, claiming he has lost the confidence of their community.

Makes you wonder why on an Easter Sunday 105 years ago we bothered having a Rising nothing has changed .Sad reality we probably had more freedom under British Rule than we have in our own Republic .A Brick layer working building a Hospital of a School or on a site for multi billion Corporations is ok to work but a Bricklayer who might get a small job to build a garden wall could get arrested .

The final bit that broke me was yesterday I was out with the dog and there was a row in the Childrens playground between two women .One had a kid on the swings and when another kid got on the other swing beside them she asked them not to as it was not Socially distant .The seconds kids mother didnt get annoyed and knock her out she said ."Social distancing dosent seem to apply to you when you are pushing your child on the swing .Now when Children have become weaponised in the great Covid debate you got to sit up and take notice .I cant imagine how scared that first mother must be to bring her child out .Every evening on Virgin Media smiley Girl reads out the score and two well paid heads from the HSE spread political Propoganda while the Job they are paid to do run the Hospital Service is ignored and the Hospital waiting lists are now at over a Million people waiting for an appointment .If people dont rant then nothing will change .

People moan and moan and complain (you presently),we have the highest number of people on hospital waiting lists,highest rents, highest numbers of homelessness, lack of affordable housing,highest mortgage rates in EU, highest Insurance in EU and on and on .
Guess what, the people vote for the same political partys time and time again.
No change there then.

Now this Fuckology ....Tánaiste Leo Varadkar's department contacted Dunnes Stores last week over its supermarkets selling non-essential goods and its website offering click and collect services, the Sunday Independent has learned.
The contact from Department of Enterprise officials resulted in Dunnes Stores removing references to its click and collect service from its website, which as of last Thursday stated that this service is "temporarily unavailable" in the Republic.
Last Wednesday the same section of the website said customers "could choose to have their online order delivered free to their selected store".
I ordered 5 ton of gravel and 40 bags of cement to lay a foundation .Its not illegal to order it but its illegal to lay the foundation unless in building a school or hospital .So you can buy blocks but cant lay them .BUY A FUCKING GUN .

Big Donno with a Fada is Big Dommos Cousin havent seen him in years but last night he appeared at the flats with a bottle of Powers and an Easter egg for Dommos Grankids .He was delighted to hear that one of them passed the leaving cert last year even though it was a lucky bag leaving cert it was still a great achievement especially getting it while serving a sentence in the training unit .Anyway Dommo with a Fada has republican tendencies he once bought a copy of An Poblacht from the Gaff on Parnell Square back in the 1970s and the Gards stopped him and took his name then about ten years later the Special Branch knocked on his door to check he was still living there .

I read in the Irish Times that our esteemed Government are to reconsider the Hotel Prisons and consider allowing home quarintint Dooooh as Homer Simpson would say The Judge yesterday ruled if you cannot afford a Hotel one will be provided for you just like free legal aid so anybody coming from a Red Country into Ireland from close of Court yesterday is entitled to a free two week hotel stay with meals and they can order gargle through room service .You couldn't make this up as part of a Big Dommo Story ,nobody would believe you .Locked in your Hotel Room for two weeks riding and taking Coke with Champaigne on Ice sounds like a decent Honeymoon .

Im sitting on the Sofa yesterday rubbing the Silver paper off of me Easter egg with the tip of me fingernail to take all the creases out of it and make it smooth and shiney watching the News on Radio Telefish Eireann and some lad from the HSE announces how great things are out in the Aviva with loads of people getting needled he says some of the most vulnerable were getting needled ,people had TRAVELED from all over Ireland to the Aviva to get needled because they were the most vulnerable .Am I missing something why would you ask the most vunerable people to travel the length and breath of the country but if your fully vaccinated you cant travel more than 5K .Its a strange old world Catholics cant go to Church but really sick people can go into football stadiums .
