Outbreak of Covid on Intel construction site in Leixlip (https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2021/0422/1211468-intel-covid/)
Intel has confirmed there has been an outbreak of Covid-19 on the construction site for its new manufacturing facility in Leixlip, Kildare.
Responding to a query from RTÉ, a spokesperson estimated the number of cases at "approximately 70" but described the situation as "fluid".
She indicated that the main contractor was actively working with the relevant public health authorities, and that follow-up testing has resulted in further positive cases being identified.
Workers at the site have been informed.
<snip>
The Construction Industry Federation said it does not expect the Covid-19 outbreak at the Intel site to affect the planned reopening of all construction by 4 May.
People Before Profit Employment Spokesperson Paul Murphy described the situation at the Intel site as a "mass outbreak" and called for the site to be closed down.

It might make an interesting experiment. Take a county like Offaly where not much happens and let PBP run the place for a year. They could make all the rules they wanted etc & run the place as they saw fit. And see if the county is better or worse than before. And what the locals would think of life under the 'socialists'

To be fair it was taxi drivers under the direction of their self-appointed representatives that demanded incentives to get drivers back working because there's no work. To be fair to SPBP, Richard Boyd-Barrett has been a lone voice up above in Dail Eireann in supporting our trade. I trust we will reciprocate at election time by supporting our local SPBP candidates.

I'll vote for him if they all move to Offaly :P

Weren't the Israelis providing the workforce for the new build at Intel?
