Look at what happened here this weekend the state was challenged by groups of youths .Where were the Gards when they were jumping on Cars .Why do we have a non Garda Garda Commissioner .The same thing is happening in the UK kids stabbing kids .SUS laws in the UK and Irish Gards with emergency Powers to prevent protests or marches until February next year .Wake the fuck up one supports the other Ill ask again the Garda knew there was trouble in the area so where were they when the Tracksuit Terrorists were marching on cars .If it had of been a disturbance outside Pygmalion or Peters Pub they would of been there in nanno seconds .

Legislation is on the way. Hopefully it won't put prohibitive burdens on potential scooterers. They work well in many cities, no reason they can't work here, at least within city limits.

To be fair, mine was not among the many voices including drivers on here, drivers' self-appointed representatives and taxi company bosses that told Govt and anybody else that would listen that taxis are not suited to the new normal. It seems a little stupid for the same drivers and self-appointed drivers' representatives to complain when Govt promote safer, healthier, environmentally friendlier alternatives.
The majority of taxi drivers working for Free Now (saloon cars) are only allowed carry one or two? passengers. Surely an eScooter or pair of eScooters could cover that work in the big cities. To be fair to Free Now, it is lobbying to be allowed offer that safer, healthier, cheaper, environmentally friendlier service.

REALLY ...At least 14 per cent of spit-hood deployments by gardaí since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic have involved people with obvious mental illnesses.
And a spit hood was used on at least one person with an obvious learning disability and on five children, including one who was 14 years old.
Spit hoods, or anti-spit guards as they are called by the Garda, are wire and fabric devices which are forcibly placed over the heads of suspects to stop them purposely spitting or coughing on gardaí.
Their use has been criticised by various human rights bodies and the Policing Authority which has said they should be discontinued as soon as possible.
According to data released to The Irish Times, the Policing Authority has received detailed reports concerning 99 incidents of spit-hood use. This is out of the 104 recorded incidents of their use since March when they were introduced.
Shortly after their introduction, the Policing Authority started asking gardaí to record spit-hood use under a number of headings including if suspects had learning disabilities, were intoxicated or if they were mentally ill.
Mental health issue
In 14 incidents “the Garda member perceived the detainee to have obvious signs of a mental health issue”, the Policing Authority said. In reality, this figure is likely to be significantly higher as in 30 incidents the mental condition of the suspects was not specified by the reporting garda. In 51 incidents the suspect did not have a discernible mental illness.
In one incident, gardaí used a spit hood on a suspect with “obvious signs of a learning disability”. Again, this figure may be significantly higher as in 31 incidents gardaí did not provide enough detail.
IF THERE IS AN ELECTION CAN POLITICAL PARTIES HOLD RALLYS ? Emergency public health powers including additional Garda powers introduced to deal with Covid-19 have been extended until November.
All Opposition parties and Independents voted against the measure in the Dáil but the extension was passed by 73 votes to 68 with no abstentions. It was passed in the Seanad last week.
The Government faced cross-party Opposition criticism that it was using the Oireachtas as a “rubber stamp” for these “extraordinary measures”.
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly amended his legislation to extend the powers until November after which they can be rolled over for a further three months, but will not go beyond February next year.
But TDs told the Minister he was asking for a “blank cheque” as parties introduced unsuccessful amendments for a July or September sunset clause on the legislation, with a full review and comprehensive justification for any further rollout.
Rural Independent TDs called for no further extension of the powers that include provision for a widespread ban on travel and events, and powers to permit gardaí entry to a person’s home in certain circumstances.
Government TDs have previously expressed misgivings at the extension of the powers including Fine Gael parliamentary party chairman Richard Bruton who warned against the “lazy use of exceptional powers”.
In the Dáil debate on the Health and Criminal Justice (Covid-19) (Amendment) Bill Social Democrats TD Róisín Shortall said there was no justification “for the automatic rollover of these powers”.
ONLY MINISTERS HAVE A SAY .WHY BOTHER BEING A TD ?..TDs reviewing the Climate Action Bill ahead of Dáil debate on it have expressed their frustration after Minister Eamon Ryan said the only amendments he was likely to accept were his own.
A Dáil committee has begun examining 239 proposed amendments to the bill which the Minister wants passed into law before the summer break.

While there's no option for 3-4 passengers I tend to select the XL (5-8) option as that's generally cheaper than 2 saloon cars.
I guess you should report drivers who break the rules. AFAIK, drivers cannot access the app until/unles they agree to the firm's COVID '19 restrictions. It might seem trivial but failing to operate within the rules on one job could have a pretty serious knock on effect, possibly leaving the firm liable for damages resulting from negligent operation.

Two gardaí have been suspended from duty pending an investigation after a 17-year-old boy sustained serious head injuries, including a bleed to the brain, during the course of his arrest in Dublin city centre.
It is understood video footage of the two officers with the boy prompted a superintendent to suspend the two gardaí, such was the “seriousness of the incident”, senior security sources have told the Sunday Independent .
Gardaí also immediately referred the incident to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc), which issued an appeal last Wednesday for witnesses.
