BARS AND RESTAURANTS OPEN UP FOR OUTDOOR DINING
An Irishman was shocked at the price he paid for pints and chicken wings at a Dublin hotel over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Seán Mac Giolla Phádraig chose to go to the Temple Bar Hotel to mark the reopening of hospitality but was stunned by what he was charged.
He posted the receipt on Twitter of his order from Sunday of “seven pints and a few chicken wings” which added up to €75.00.
Sean said: “Spend, spend, spend, he says. You have no option but to spend, spend, spend, if you're out in Dublin.”
Some people expressed their concern about "rip-off Ireland".
One said: “€7.50 a pint, are they charging you for all the ones you didn’t drink over the last 18 months.", Dublin Live reports.
Another tweeted: “Daylight robbery in Dublin as beer costs €7.50 beside the Liffey.”
A third replied: “€7.50 for a pint of lager is outrageous, even in Temple Bar.”
Someone else said: “As there's going to be a minimum charge on alcohol, will there be a maximum? Thought not.”
“At these prices, I’ll stay at home thanks.”
“You’d get a keg for that on DoneDeal.”
However, not everybody was sympathetic with his case.
One said: "You decided to go to the most expensive location in the country for food and drink, the prices were displayed at the door."
Dublin was recently announced as the most expensive EuroZone city to live in.
As well as this, it has the seventh-highest living costs in Europe overall.
The Expatistan Cost of Living index ranks the county higher than European capitals such as Paris, Rome and Madrid.
And the cost of a pint can be over €6 in the Irish capital, compared to the €1.50 you'd pay for a beer in Prague.

Sure they're all owned by culchies.

I guess they're all charging similar so regardless of prices being displayed you have to pay the going rate if you want a drink. I'm guessing there's a different price for regulars/locals... sure a man on puppy dole couldn't afford that every night.

Can ye haggle?

Temple bar was a disused bus station up to the 90s. If you drink in a fake Dublin environment, you deserve all you get.

True Silver.....ye couldn't run through it fast enough, sure there used to be bus termini outside the ESB,TSB had their head office on the far side of the street.
