A teenager killed after two motorcycles collided with a taxi in Dublin on Saturday night has been named locally as Calvin Gilchrist from the East Wall area of the city.

The 19-year-old died and his young teenage passenger was injured when the bike he was riding crashed with the car at around 10.15pm on the Finglas Road in Glasnevin.

Why they allow motorcycles share carriageways with cars, vans, buses, trams and trucks is beyond me. Motorcycles account for 1 in 12 road deaths yet only 1 in 50 vehicles on the road are motorcycles. With new legislation pending for electric scooters and bicycles they should consider restricting all such vehicles to dedicated lanes in 30 Kilo/hour zones only... save properly organised racing events.
