SPAR Shop on Emmett Road in Inchicore is closing its insomnia coffee shop loss of two jobs and letting two other staff go as the new traffic layout means people cannot stop their cars to shop loss of passing trade means job losses but the unemployed can cycle to collect their dole in the post office in the shop .
-
How many other jobs will be lost because of Bikelanes outside shops .
-
They Corrected that its the SPAR On SCR in Kilmainham .Town is totally fucked up with those bike bollards whats the Law are we breaking it if we stop in the lane beside the bike lane to pick up a passenger say on the Quays or whats the story if we drive into a bikelane to stop to drop off or pick up .Is it legal ?
-
Just leave them a km from their destination....at a bike station....and they can cycle the rest of the way.
-
I see a few Courier companies and delivery companies looking for breasters for their trucks and vans .Drivers cant pull up outside shops because of bikelanes cant leave the van down the road or around the corner unattended .My mate is delivering medicines and needs a breaster for insurance reasons if he leaves the van parked out of site when he is delivering .Contract he signed never included a helper he is caught by the bollox he signed a contract to do the deliveries he is stressed out working for pocket money .
-
Wouldn't do a van courier job in this town anymore John.....stressed to fuk!!

No money in it 120 a day you supply the van - money deducted on returns .A few Cripmo taxies still delivering for Amazon around here .
-
You will work your arse off for a couple of penny's... no thanks
-
There are plenty of taxi drivers getting less than 120 after expenses a day driving their cabs and dealing with the same traffic problems as the van men.I wonder if the van drivers have a forum where they worry about the poor taxi driver and complain about the government all day.
Erm less bollox please you bleeding oxygen waster..
The reason we're getting fukked with traffic restrictions is because the few irrelevant taxi unions that we have are camped out in the airport and are only concerned with gaurding their own patch. Get as much as you can every day and mind your own business.Otherwise you'll go nuts and strangle some poor bastard for not indicating...

Ah c'mon......strangling is too good for those cunts....maybe some foreplay like waterboarding....and then death!!
-
Shush!….the NTA may be keeping records?

I'm gonna guess, yes.
-
Drove past it last Night its only there since earlier this week .It was like flying into a small airport off the West Coast of Longford .Shiney reflectors everywhere .

Seems like a good idea, in theory at least. In my experience a lot of motorists don't seem to know what a mandatory cycle lane is. Of course, they didn't exist when a lot of us took the driving test or otherwise acquired a licence to drive. I wonder if similar seperate lanes will be required for eScooters/eBicycles whenever the regulation promised by Minister Ross is enacted.

Lucky for the Youth of Eireann they will have you to learn them how to navigate these objects .Wait till bin Day when the Bin LUrry holds up traffic all the way back to the Galtymore Roundabout and young Spastic Children on their way to the John of Gods in Islandbridge get upset .Absolutly no logic for building this bottleneck .
-
If it makes the roads safer for cyclists and, perhaps, encourages cycling as a safer, healthier alternative to travelling in enclosed motorised vehicles that has to be a good thing. Did the school object to the provision of the mandatory cycle lane in question and, if so, on what grounds?
-
The most noticeable thing is the lack of cyclists on these new lanes and the build up vehicular traffic in the remaining roadspace .Maybe at rush hour they're busy but any hint of a gust of wind or a rain shower and all the cyclists are back on the bus or in the car.Maybe they'll get better use when the e scooters arrive.

I think thats the plan Merch traffic control by frustration .
-
Is there space for another lane for eScooters/eBicycles? Slowing vehicular traffic down could encourage commuters to wrap up and brave the elements on their bicycles, I guess.
-
Do we need to widen the Bike lanes for Trikes for older persons who because of dementia or Arthritis of the hip cannot remain up right on two wheels .No notice is been given to elder persons who due to years of hard toil can no longer muster up the energy to cycle .Cycling is an Ageist policy .
-
What Eamon Ryan and the gang fail to realise is the modern youngster doesn't want to arrive off a bicycle at work looking and smelling like a hobo.Helmet hair is a real issue, mostly for the ladies but the lads all look like benders nowadays so who knows what they're afraid of.Not great for their Instagram selfies.
The e scooters should alleviate some of those odour problems.
Have yis seen yer man Ryan sweating on his bike? Doesn't look like a bloke who cycles regularly. He probably takes the bike out of the boot of the ministerial motor 100 meters from the Dail.

The eScooter regulation promised by Minister Ross all those years ago may accommodate mobility scooters insofar as that may be deemed reasonably appropriate, I guess. Pedestrianisation has proved successful in several trials up above in Dublin. That could also be looked at as a way of maximising inclusivity insofar as that may be deemed reasonably appropriate. Did any of the disability organisations object to the mandatory cycle lane in question and, if so, on what grounds?
-
To be fair to Eammo he leads by example and what a leader no other member of his crowd are ever seen on a bike .I wonder if Eamo has a car parking spot in his garden at home or has he dug it up to lay a lawn .Real leading by example .
-
Owr Minister Sargent had a little fold up bicycle that he carried on the train when he had business up above in Dublin and his Ministerial car was one of them Priuseses back in the early days of Priusees.

They havent woken up to it yet .Wait till the mobility grant for personal vehicles is removed as there are ample WAV taxis and scooters and bikelanes available .Noleen Foley from the flats who works in the Laundarette use to use her Mas Wheelchair licence to park in the invalid parking space outside work all day now she has to walh as the parking spot has been removed and replaced with a bike lane .Where will the invalids now park when they want to wash their piss soaked sheets .You cant safely get a bag of laundry on the crossbar of a bike .
-
If they didn't lodge an objection to the mandatory cycle lane in question one must assume they don't see any issue. Perhaps you should contact them with your concerns. I'm sure they'd give you a sympathetic hearing.
-
If yer man Sargent was a true green he'd cycle all the way in or move closer to his job.
Or just go on the labour and save a lot of hassle.

I think his bird dumped him and he became a priest .

Probably the Prius..
-
Serious safety question .When it snows and the movement of cars splashes smow into the bike lanes and they are full of sludgey snow will the Council close the bike lanes with an announcement on RTE .Same point with frost the heat from tyres and exhausts thaw the roads but how will bikomentalists thaw their strip .
-
They won't John. They'll just move onto the road and look at us like we're cnuts when they realise there's not enough room. It'll still be our fault when we hit them.
-
Good business supplying replacement plastic lane designating poles with the amount of cars occupying their space.
-
The big problem with most (not all) cycle lanes is that there's simply no room for them, they get shoehorned into the inside lane with a series of broken white lines which is supposed to magically make them fit.
