Fucking annoying Green Isle to Dame Street .I took it for about an hour after my usual Saturday Starting time to avoid trafic and get a nice start ,I think the cunt just decided to stay in the pub as nobody left from when I arrived and Rang him to say I had arrived and when I rang to see where he was .Just means I will never cover a prebook job again and waste my time .I am up to 3 My taxi jobs now for the week .

I’m sure big dommo would know what’s wrong with it or your man who hires casual laborers.
-
Probably would but Im in no hurry Gordon Elliott had a few winners today and I got her wages out of it . If its clutch about 180 for parts and probably 300 for Casual labour .Turbo could be expensive .Ill hope its fuel need to wait a while to see if other drivers complain a lot of taxis use that garage its cheap .
-
Sorry to hear of your woes John. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and just dirty diesel as you say. Enjoy your night off.

I might try suck the diesel out and refill from a different garage see if that works .But I doubt thats the problem it feels like a slipping clutch .
-
That octavia I had that time I had serious clutch problems with it. I'd get it done and after about 6 weeks it would start slipping again. Only this thing would go into high revs but no power. Kind of the opposite of what you're saying, low revs and no power. Hopefully it's not your clutch.

Throw another €20 juice in and give her a spin over the m50 , had the same issue if I used the garage on mespil road for some reason cheap grade fuel I think.
-
It will travel but struggles under excelleration .Stick it in fourth and excelerate it just drops all the power seems like clutch .I had an occi they dined on clutches lucky to get 100K out of one .

Going to do that in the morning Half a bottle of dipitaine run it up the Nass road .It only started acting up about half an hour after I filled it so the good juice in the filter would of kept it sweet until the bad stuff got through but its probably not fuel .as I said a lot of Taxis use that Garage if its bad juice we will hear .
-
Might you have taken to a new bad habit of resting your left foot on the clutch ?
It happened me a few years back when I got new 'Sketchers' which were about the widest shoe I have ever worn, it was my mechanic that said it to me that I had taken to resting my foot on the clutch that caused the problem.
-
Is dirty diesel urban mythology ?
Anyway if yu got it .....change yur filter ... 5 minute job
-
I think its Clutch Occi was getting a small bit of wheelspin when pulling away if I was on an incline 120,000 on the clock could still be the original clutch .Its just getting the right diagnosis before I spend Her Christmas money .

I suppose if it's clutch ...yur engine be racing ....if its filter....the engine be dying a death john ....

If it's dying when putting the foot down more than likely fuel starvation..... is the car idling ok John?
Take a step back and don't throw the parts cannon at it,when was it last serviced and was the fuel filter replaced, also just cos you refuelled it,that might just be a coincidence.

I had the most ghastly experience with a Free Now job on Friday. I phoned the client and, while I was clearly in the wrong place, I just couldn't get enough comprehensible words out of him to resolve the issue so I tried to cancel the job. Whichever reason I selected (I tried them all) just opened an alert with some nonsense about the inconvenience of cancelling and two options - an X to close the dialogue and a "Continue Driving" button which also closed the alert. Neither would actually cancel the job so I had to enter a fare of €3.80 and send them a strongly worded message via the job specific help button which I accessed by selecting the "View Previous Layout" option in the Earnings section.
As Octy suggests the engine would be racing if the clutch was slipping, erm.... or the car would sound like a tractor if the Dual Mass Flywheel was faulty. If you are buying a clutch, best to go the Euroclutch in Baldoyle. He done my old MKII Octy at 150,494 kilos and it's still going strong with c.340,000 kilos on the clock. If you've got a DMF don't get a cheap solid conversion unless the car's on it's last legs e.g. within c.100,000 kilos of end of service.
Anywaysanall, with them DCIs I'd be looking at the boost pressure control valve and the vaccuum hoses connected to it (check for leaks) and the EGR valve and any pipes connected to it (clean thoroughly inside and out). If turning it off and on again temporarily solves the issue you could be looking at the accelerator's potentiometer.
-
Thanks for the advice .Its beginning to look like an electric problem .Losing some of the displays on the dash when I turn on the headlights .Get it diagnosed tomorrow .
-
"Ghastly" bejaysus, now there's a word Paddy doesn't use too often.

Ok so.....check battery terminals....amazing how a poor connection can cause all sorts of problems and any electrical diagnosis without a decent and constant 12v supply is hard to achieve, you don't mention any check engine light on the dash.......what RC says about the accelerator potentiometer,i know they had problems in the Megane(sister in law had problems)...dosy cunt of a mechanic replaced injectors cos the car would go into limp mode, very rare for all injectors to fail at the same time but that didn't seem to cross his mind......maybe the Fluence had a similar accelerator problem.
-
Battery is New only 8 months old but I suppose could of been effected by the recent cold snap .Ill get it on the diagnosis tomorrow .No dash lights showing but the Fuel range and the guage are spurious could be sending mixed messages to the engin management system .

A prebooking scrub is a tenner.
-
....... Almost impossible to get scrub fee.
I have 2 'Cast Iron' scrub requests in from last weekend, I'll be getting on to them if both are not paid out.
-
Reach out is the preferred term these days, Ken. I reached out to them twice about my wholly horrific experience and all I got back was two requests to rate the lack of support I received. Does a cancellation fee generally get paid straight away or is it a week behind?
-
Don't bother your balls looking for a scrub payment..they don't pay them out, had loads of crap with them over scrubs and never paid
All I do now is,max waiting time 1 minute or so with meter on from time I arrive,
Customer who has no number on there profiler I'm cancelling straight away and move on
Fuck free now and there crappy scrub fees
-
I got paid 2 on Sunday.
-
From the week ending Sunday or the previous week?
-
i always get paid scrubbers.
i wait the 5 minutes and i ring them.
scrub payment please
i don't know how they're able to check that you've indeed rang them and got no answer.
-
As per app permissions all calls are recorded, your lucky to get paid them,me and loads of lads I no never get them

Got paid on Sundays earning page for 2 on Saturday night.

Well what was wrong with the car in the end ?
Fuel filter probably never changed when it was serviced by main dealer .I went back to Circle K on Kimmage Road instead of the Cheap Garage on the Kylemore Road .I dont buy fuel in Mount Brown always try to avoid Top Garages their Storage tanks on the Port are full of water .

Had terrible trouble when I used to use Applegreen only use circle k garages , thankfully a cheap fix for you at this time of the year.
-
Never had any probs with Applegreen, rarely use Circle K as they always seem more expensive.

Petrol seems to be Ok but Diesel collects a lot of water .I know from working on the Port that the Top yard tanks are filthy .
-
Always used Applegreen for diesel (bog standard B7 to EN590, not the premium stuff) and never had a problem with it but I do change the fuel filters in accordance with manufacturer specifications - every 90,000 kilos for my Octys.
I've recently started using Certa in the taxi 'cos it's cheaper and you get Tesco Clubcard points with it - also bog standard B7 to EN590. I hope it proves as reliable as the Applegreen stuff... getting the same kilometerage so far anyway.

Back on topic.... Still no commission refund or cancellation fee on this week's statement so I've had to reach out to them by telephone... adding in another job on Saturday that presented the same issue i.e. cancel facility not working. The man on the phone was aware of the issue and those who (somehow) are employed in the IT section are trying to resolve it. Anywaysanall, he's going to give me my commission back and look in to the cancellation fees as he's not empowered to directly address them other than to direct drivers to the Help button in the app - of course that doesn't work unless the job is cancelled on the system using the correct prescribed buttons i.e. including at least one button that doesn't appear on my phone.

I got my invoice showing 98.58 + 5.00 cancellation fee.

How did you cancel the job to claim the cancellation fee? The problem I have is that it's not possible to cancel a job. One must clear it by entering the min fare of €3.80. He was aware of the issue so I'm guessing it's specific to certain Android models/versions. Whichever cancel option I select just brings up an alert with some nonsense about how bold it is to cancel jobs with an X to close the alert and a "Continue Driving" button which also closes the alert but there's no way to actually cancel the fucking job... resulting in a wholly ghastly "user experience"!
-

I don't start the job unless the punter is in the car. After I've phoned and the 5 minutes expires I scroll down and use the cancel job option.
I then go back into the earnings section, scroll to the completed jobs section, select the job that I cancelled, and click on the help button. In the box I put "please apply cancellation fee" No contact, call not answered, five minutes elapsed yada, yada, yada.

The problem I have is that I'm in the matrix once I click arrived... POB is the only button that works from there.
Also, there's no Help button in the completed jobs section of the new layout on mine. You have to go to previous layout to find a help button.
The man on the phone seemed to be aware of both issues so, while it doesn't seem to apply to all Androids, it certainly applies to some.
