Top Irish hotel's kitchen forced to close in one of six food safety orders last month
A kitchen was found to have a black sack of rice and rodent droppings mixed together in January, with production being ordered to stop once discovered

Treacy's Hotel on the Quay in Waterford
A kitchen in a Waterford hotel was found to have a black sack of rice and rodent droppings mixed together in January.
Treacy's Hotel on the Quay was served with a closure order under the FSAI Act, 1998, with the kitchen forced to close for one week.
Reasons for the closure, which can be read here included:
There was a build- up of dirt and food debris including an old bread roll on the shelves adjacent to the walk in freezer
Socks, runners and clothing were spread on the floor of the staff facilities
Food debris and rodent droppings were observed under the shelves of the larger Dry Goods Store.
Two half-filled black sacks containing a mix of rice and rodent faeces were located in the press adjacent to the small Dry Goods Store
