With Snow predicted for tomorrow are the EVs 4wd front or rear Wheel drive .With the weight more evenly distributes will they hold the road better than a front engined Car ?
-
I'm not working tomorrow so I won't be the one to find out! But I have front wheel drive in my MG5 and the torque is very high/strong? I've spun the wheels a few times on just damp roads from a dead stop trying to quickly get across a junction. I'd imagine it would be very easy to lose control in snow.
Having said that, the regen would reduce the need for brakes so maybe you'd be less likely to skid when stopping in a straight line?
The Cork drivers are getting the snow, I think, so maybe they'll let us know tomorrow?
-
I'll take it out for ye watty...give it the snow test it deserves!!
-
Thanks but I can't let you have the car tomorrow. I'll be testing the door seals are snow-tight and it has to be stationary for the test. I'm sure you understand :-\
-
No worries watty,I can do a drive by and check if those seals are piss proof!!
-
Thanks! I'll return the favour when you get your next car O:-)

So How was the Big Storm for you ? I think a crisp packet got blown into my Garden .Some few weeks for overexaggerating . The Big Storm didnt huff and puff and blow the house down .The Russian Navy didnt shoot dead all the fish near Cork and the War didnt start on Tuesday @ 2 O Clock .Whats going on in the World when you cant rely on the Irish Independent and RTE News for reliable News .

Ah that's where you're going wrong John.....CNN,yer only man!! lol

Is ther no traction control on them tings ?

Of course. And it beeps at you if you go too fast and/or wander out of lane. But the torque is too much for the tyres in damp conditions. And I have it in 'eco' mode. God only knows what would happen in 'sport' mode!
-
You're probably already overriding the Eco mode simply by being heavier on the throttle. After years of driving the diesel harder it might be tough to get used to being more gentle. You'll know soon enough by how often you're changing front tyres.
-
Wats yur tyre pressure watty? ...they suppose to check it on the pre delivery inspection... tink they blow them way up in the factory to seal them or something....
but I remember I took delivery of me brand new octavia ..god be good to her ....an the
Tyre pressure was 60 psi or somethin....cnuts never let it down ... yull have no grip atall atall if it's the case
-
I think driving the Prius for all those years definitely changed my driving style,no need for a lead foot.....unleaded you're unfortunate enough to actually have a lead foot!!
-
Youse are overthinking it! It's a feature of EV's - the torque is just too much if you're not careful. And I've only done it a few times - specifically when turning right at a T-junction in damp conditions. Other than those few times, I'm the bestest driver there is out there :P
There's pressure sensors on the tyres and you can see them on the display if you want. If they were out of wack, I'm sure the car would beep at me C:-) It already beeps at me 3 or 4 times a day (for different stuff) oops

Check it anyway ...an stop drivin like a youngfella ::fds ffs

The Prius would wheel spin no bother if the traction control wasn't so strong.Instead it just spins a little then it stutters then it catches grip and off ya go.
It won't be long before they regulate the power out of EVs.Cant be having bog-standard Teslas leaving motorbikes and fast cars in in their rearview mirrors. They're too fast for most of us.
