Apparently half the accommodation offered by families is not fit.....maybe those houses need to be shelled first!!

Maybe they're like the Irish, and the houses are not within commuting distance for daddy Wayno, Deano, or Nat'an.

To get the most lucrative allocation - one adult and one child - I think you need an ensuite bedroom which can accommodate two beds with at least 700mm clear space around at least 3 sides of each and space for a fridge, microwave, tea/coffee making facilities and sufficient storage for clothes and other possessions. The ensuite (probably termed as "private bathroom") must be for the exclusive use of your Ukranians and must include a bath, a shower won't suffice if you want a child - which you will to get the maximum HAP.... Oh, and you can't specify "keen gardener preferred", apparently!
You'd nearly think the rules are written by brown envelope rich hotel chains who can claim their high season full board rate all year round. As one hotel manager told me the Refugee contract is actually more lucrative and far less hassle than the COVID 19 prison contract was.
No doubt the tents they're erecting down at the Army barracks meet all the specified criteria!

The students are almost gone for the summer. Tens of thousands of rooms are available all at a reasonable cost. Cheques are to be made out to C/O The "Canadian teachers pension fund", P.O. Box 555, Ottawa, Canada.

It'd be hard, if not impossible, to get shot of the Refugees come September.
