We now have a Woman Sinn Fein Taoiseach In Belfast .I wonder if there are any Bikelanes with plastic bollards on the Shankhill or Falls Roads or can you burn Turf in Cushandall .Might be a lesson there for Eamo .Stay away from bikelanes and bogs .
-
Eamo just needs to make sure his gold plated pensions are recession proof...but we know they are...and himself and his band of tax tax tax anything that moves or burns merry fukwits will be ready to be reelected in ten years time!!

Strange how some things Change in a few years Provos use to have rifles weed killer and sugar mixed in copper pipes now they are in charge .Ukraine use to be the second largest part of the Soviet Union now its their second biggest enemy .Nice to see somethings never change third on the rank last night but first away as I was the only one taking card .One fella in front said he only took Revolute as they didnt charge him anything for taking payment .Now the funny thing was he was a Free Now Ambassador with his car covered in Free Now stickers and paying 15% commission .I could nearly hear the Ghost of Ian Paisley saying No NO No as the punter asked Do you take card .
-
It's not about the fees but traceability.Yer man with the ambassador stickers is probably up to his limit for the week on card/account.His accountant might have given him a limit.
I turned off my apps this morning as they were all over the place.Actually got some tips for a change from my street work.I really don't think this mandatory card thing is gonna be as good for us as you might think Erm.

Mrs. Bullet bought a suitcase today from TK MAXX. She just missed the bus home and wasn't prepared to wait so hailed a cab.
A dirty greasy old man pulled in, in a dirty car (her words). She asked did he take card or could he break a €50? "I'm a cash man only" was his reply.
Between the jigs and the reels she paid cash.
I asked her a simple question:
Did you get any of the following?
His name
Badge number
Roof sign number
registration number
Vehicle make
Vehicle model
Receipt.
Mrs. Bullet: Erm, None of the above. ::)

There are a lot more lads in the fleet making decent money in the current climate. At this point in the year their earnings are getting taxed at the higher tax bracket from covering all the card and account jobs. This card issue is gonna get worse IMO with drivers turning the apps off completely towards xmas. This is the first time where drivers were so busy and covering so much card/account work.
During the last Celtic tiger(before I started) you could drive around filling up yer pockets with only cash if that's the way you wanted to work.

Merch the Cards are coming and we can do nothing about it .I was sitting 3rd on Jurys on Friday job to Leixlip the two in front wouldnt take cards .I believe Credit card machines will be Great for us give us back at least 50% of the app work as Gretta Finnigan who is standing in the pissings of rain on Molesworth Street and you pull over and she asks are you Tony and when you say no she still stands in the rain because tony is a Free Now or Uber Driver and she has no coin .If every taxi took card it would eliminate the need to app for a lot of return journeys .Nice to be picked up from home on the way out but getting home after porter you dont want to be waiting in the rain on Molesworth Street for Tony who will probably cancel the job if he is offered something better .When it comes to Tax you are paying 15% comission to the app after deduction's and costs you would be paying less to the tax man .

Erm you are dreaming if you think it's gonna turn out well for us.How long before card payment fees get bumped up?
Why aren't they on a flat fee anyway?. I'm just gonna go with the flow from now on.See what happens.Frenow and the gang aren't going away.

They are not going away but we can take back a lot of work from them .I know a lot of people are leaving them and looking for card payments as they are tired of drivers cancelling .I dont think Card fees will go up in fact I think they will drop the competition between .Apple pay,Visa ,American Express .Debit or Credit cards will bring down the fees as every transaction is by card the card issuers will fight for customers through lower transaction fees or quarterly fees smaller margin from a bigger pot .

Would much rather be paying 1.95. % credit card fee than 15% free now fee the erm is correct in saying it could be possible to take back some work from app work if the taxi industry and Nta do this correctly.

We are supposed to be getting 11.5% increase and included in that is a % for accepting cards .So the CC cost is offset by the increase .

Disrespectful topic, I was never Ian Paisley's greatest follower, but the man is dead and respect should be shown.
Shame on you John M.
-
We will get some work back from the apps but we will lose a lot of the cash customers that will switch to card.I'll support any app boycott of one comes but I genuinely believe too many drivers enjoy the pretence of working for a company.I've even seen ambassadors wearing the Freenow jackets FFS.Some clowns we have.

Maybe it could be like some of the payment terminals you see in some cafes. The screen has 3 tip options (20, 10, 5%) in big letters and a very small 'pay now' option at the bottom. You feel guilt-ed (?) into pressing one of the tip buttons :-[

It's bad enough, but we don't yet need to become beggars. The cabapp terminal has that tip option on it, but I never show it to the client. Pay the metered fare, and I'm happy, add a tip, and I am very appreciative, but perish the day that I would ever ask for one.
-
The SumUp tip function is on the app(my phone) which isn't visible to the passenger and I ain't asking them if they want to tip me,just put the terminal up to the screen and let them tap.

I totally agree Harry.
